What's new

Troy Tulowitzki

No of course not, it is just one in a storied history of boring sports in which doing steroids is the one single way to gain an advantage over anyone else and make the sport actually a little bit exciting. (see: cycling)

I agree baseball is boring on tv. But every once in every game, this guy does this:

And then I'm like "damn, that's my homie yo!"

Amazing. That is done perfectly.

And people say baseball players aren't athletic, that takes some skill and athleticism right there.

I openly covet Tulo. Defensively he's the best thing I've seen since Omar Vizquel. Plus, he can really hit. Awesome.

I dont think people say baseball players are not athletic.... there are obviously many who are.

I think people say that its not neccessary to be athletic to play baseball and that there are more unathletic dudes in baseball than in basketball.

If i practiced all my life and dedicated myself to baseball then i believe i could make it in baseball athletically.

In basketball there is just no way i can hang the atheletes in the nba

You think you could be a professional baseball player?

Also, the athleticism in baseball is on display a lot less than in other sports.

Most baseball plays consist of a dude standing still and throwing a ball really fast while another dude standing still swings and misses or does not even swing at all.... sometimes the batter connects which usually results in a foul ball or an easy out (pop up fly ball... easily fielded grounder etc)

Once in a great while a highlight type play showing athleticism happens and when it does its pretty cool and ends up on sporstcenter

I think i have the athleticism to be one but not the skills.

There undoubtedly valueable and difficult skills involved in the game of baseball that i may never be able to aquire but i think i can run fast enough, jump high enough, get strong enough, and have enough size and hand eye coordination amd get in good enough shape for it.

I definately dont think baseball is easy but i dont believe that the jumping, running, strenght required is whay makes it difficult

Lol.

No, pretty much any metric you look at points to Simmons as better defensively, including the eye test.

Pretty much any metric you look at points to you being a condescending blowhard.

Regardless of whether you are right or not, your argument is irrelevant. Go back and read my first post. Unless you know exactly who or what I've seen, you can't really make any concrete assertions.

Please do us all a favor and spend more time tweaking your FarmersOnly.com profile.

It's not MY insight. It's the insight of anybody who has done any sort of analysis of defense in baseball.

I'll give you this: you full-on commit to even the most trivial and unimportant argument.

Good for you.

See, this is the thing: if Duck responds with something like, "Well, what about Simmons? How would you say he compares to Tulo, defensively?", I would probably admit that it's a great point, and that really, speaking purely of defense, Simmons is a better player at the moment. But instead, he chooses to be a know-it-all douche, and talk to me like I'm retarded because hyperbole is a little beyond his grasp. So I just don't feel the need to be reasonable with guys like that.
