Just an observation that popped into my demented mind: We all know, how nearly every single Trump accusation is really also a confession. Trump takes projection to lengths seldom seen in any living individual. So often, his accusation involves something he himself has done, is doing, or will do in the future. It’s important that his most dedicated followers also give into projection. And, from that perspective, TDS itself is simply projection by Trump’s cult of personality. What they typically cannot see, is that Trump’s values and words, and policies, are so far removed from what anyone would ever expect from an American president, that it’s not only understandable, but, if one cares about the American experiment, 250 years old now, and cares about our “American work in progress” AT ALL, then the reaction from never-Trumpers is necessary. We recognize what is happening. And history shows that, often, as in 1930’s Germany, far too many people do not recognize what is happening….WHILE…it is happening. They need the perspective of history, but, as is the case, one can put oneself, and one’s nation, behind the 8 ball when we succumb to historical amnesia. Waiting for History to render judgement can be a tad too late.
People described by Trump supporters as “suffering” from TDS, are suffering from no such thing. Instead, they are people who have not forgotten history, they are people who choose not to sleepwalk through that portion of history represented by their own lifetime. Their own time on Earth. The shock of witnessing the most un-American president in our history violate every norm of decency, a president refusing to use rhetoric that speaks to ALL his fellow citizens, a president projecting cruelty as the image the world now associates with America, once the leader of the free world. Now seen as CRUEL to the rest of the free world, our allies slack jawed.
By way of correction, and yeah, I’ve pointed this out before, images such as this are examples of genuine TDS. Not projected onto those of us who simply recognize an aberrant president when we see one.
The people projecting TDS onto Trump opponents, are the very ones suffering from TDS….
