Two Trade Idea

Here are two trades that we could make at about the same time (mid to late December) that would help us for this year and the future.

#1 Rubio to Phoenix for Greg Monroe

#2 Favors and our 2018 2nd to Cavs for Frye, Osman, Calderon and the Cavs 2018 1st.

Phoenix has some terrible contracts that expire after the 2018/19 season. Rubio is young enough and worth the gamble to see if he fits next to that young corp. We do this to dump him since Monroe is an expiring.

Cavs need a center upgrade and this comes at low cost. They move back about 15-20 spots in the draft and give up Osman who they haven't been able to get on the floor yet.

Result:

PG Mitchell, Neto
SG Hood, Burks
SF Ingles, Thabo, Osman
PF Jerekbo, JoeJ, Royce
C Gobert, Udoh, Bradley
IR Exum

We decide to keep the best of Monroe, Calderon and Frye. All are expiring. We waive the other 2.

Overall: Add a late first round pick for Favors, clear up cap from dumping Rubio to comfortably re-sign Hood and Exum in the summer, and maybe Osman develops into something....

Why would we want Monroe? He has no outside shot. That is simply a step backwards from Favors in terms of spacing...also we have 3 players that already play C in that scenario. Gobert, Favors and Udoh. He doesn't provide anything we need and that would just create a unnecessary log jam at the 4-5

Now if you meant for both trades to happen why isn't Monroe in your lineup?

He said something about dumping Monroe.

I think Monroe is basically some combination of Al Jefferson and Enes Kanter. He's a welcome sign post planted in the paint... A make shift divider in a layup line.

His mere presence screams "Drive to the lane NOW; There is no resistance HERE."

Monroe reminds me of a beige water pistol.

The Jazz didnt trade for Rubio just to salary dump him after 1/4th of the season.

We traded for him to try and keep Hayward... that didn't work. And it isn't working great on the court.

If Neto and Hood were healthy I might dump Rubio... they aren't so a Rubio trade needs to bring back a pg or a sg that can play a little. I don't think we are looking for cap space honestly... there isn't anything great out there.

Cleveland doesn't want Favs guys... Frye is important to them and Thompson is coming back soon.

Since we are proposing trades that won't happen... here is one I would love

We trade Favs to Milwaukee... Mil send teletovic and DJ Wilson to BKN... BKN sends Trevor Freakin Booker and the Toronto pick they got to us... I'd also send them our 2018 2nd round pick.

It would all depend on BKN I think... if they like Wilson then getting him for some cap space and moving back from the late 20s to the mid 40s is not a bad price.

Why would the Nets do that?

My trades might not happen, but at least they are logical. We arent getting a first rounder AND a fan favorite rotation player from a 3 team deal. Brooklyn would probably want Booker over both those guys much less the 1st.
