Ty's Coaching

From Sap: "It’s kind of similar to Sloan's, but Ty’s still finding his way. He wants to have his own niche,” Millsap said. “He doesn’t want to be a copycat. He’s still trying to find his way of coaching, his style of coaching, and eventually he will because he’s a smart guy.” Can Ty continue to learn in the DLeague?

millsap is part of the nba business, so he's saying the right words, unless he wants to end like raja bell

the truth is that corbin really sucks

After almost 4 seasons he still didn't find his way and style of coaching....he could be a nice guy but he is turning out to be incompetent for the coaching role. The waiting time is over, we badly need another coach.

Do you just want him in the dleague so he can be part of your dleague updates?

Absolutely. I could say the Rio Grande Valley Vipers have this sleeper of a coach names Ty. He likes to play old guys and doesn't quite have a rotation figured out but when he does Katy bar the door.

How do you evaluate your players when your coach is still learning?

Rookie players need a vet coach whose system you agree with. Come on DL.

This is great news. The last thing I want in a coach is someone rigid to the old styles of play. I love watching Ty's experiments every other game and all the new stuff he tries out. It's one of the few things making this boring season entertaining for me.

Frankly, its refreshing to hear someone with a different take than all the Corbin bashing sheep.

Agreed
I love hearing from people who think micheal jordan sucked and people who think hitler was actually a really kind and loving person.

Going against popular and obvious opinion rules

Wow, you comparing Corbin to the greatest NBA player ever, and one of the greatest villains in the history of the world? You are putting him up there in some elite company.

I wouldn't go that far, at this point in his career I would say he's doing some good things, and makes some mistakes but is trying to get better. Corbin is just ahead of his time. He might one day be compared to JRR Tolkien, Van Gogh, Thoreau, Galileo, and El Greco... except hopefully he doesn't die before his genius is accepted.

On a side note, I wouldn't just jump in with popular opinions just because you want to be cool and hip. You might want to think about the issue at hand and the direction of the lemmings before you go all in. Just a thought.

I form my own opinion about corbin

The only problem with that comparison is that Ty has now been at this coaching thing for 11 years, 3 as a head coach. During those years, I'd expect him to have had time to formulate offensive and defensive philosophies, especially as he progressed to essentially the "heir apparent" as everyone knew Johnson would likely retire at the same time as Sloan. But he's come out of the gate with nothing. Oh, I take that back. He did say he was going to force players baseline instead of funneling to the middle which was Sloan's philosophy. Ty was a journeyman player and he's a journeyman coach. There is no innovation or originality to his game plans.

Lemmings? Please. A lemming approach would be believing Ty is a decent coach because our FO tries to tell us he is, because their bosses (Millers) want it to be. My disdain for Ty is the product of my own critical thinking. "Frankly," his shortcomings are very obvious. You can call those of us who disagree with Ty's coaching short-sightedness, approach, and philosophy (and lack thereof) lemmings, because you perceive us as saying the same thing (the truth), and I can call you an ostrich for burying your head in the sand.

One could argue that the collective voices of disgruntled fans was the impetus for letting the vets walk in the offseason. If we were heard on that front, maybe we could be heard again.

The difference between us and you is that while we're trying to be heard, you're content with being herd.

Agree completely. Remember how he could not even get a group of assistants together? He had already interviewed for hc jobs and did not have an active of list of assistants? Lack of prep and foresight. He is just confused and indecisive, because as you noted he does not really know how he wants to get the job done. Not a HC kind of guy.

That is confusion and indecisiveness you are seeing, not thoughtful experiments.

I think if we had better players Corbin would look really good to the same people that hate him as coach.

I'm not saying Corbin is an elite coach, but I'm not saying he's terrible. Good players make coaches look good, and bad players make coaches look bad.

Corbin is not as bad as poster here seem to think. Hayward is not God. Burke is not Jesus. Burks is not the Jordan who rotted on the bench and was held down by Ty. Kanter is not an all star. Jefferson and Williams did not ruin our season. But the Lakers are the devil and will end up with the 1st pick in the draft and this will have been a wasted season... right?

Last thought. Most of the people that hate Corbin do so because of their "critical thinking".

What do you specifically see that tells you Corbin is an okay coach? I see poor team play: poor team defense and poor team offense. They win only win a few guys have great individual games. Sure, they are young but they are high draft picks. They should not lose at home to a team like Atlanta.

Do you see progress in the team? I don't. I see progress with some individual players, but that is to be expected no matter coaching as they mature and get more experience. Team progress? Don't see it.
