U of U Pedophile Controversy

Ok here's what needs to happen. The NCAA needs to create a rule that any university that covers up **** like this, that is shown to have known about it and not IMMEDIATELY brought it to light, is banned from all collegiate athletics for 5 years. This would encourage a whistle-blower atmosphere that wouldn't let **** like this hide in the dark. How differently would Joe Pa have acted if he knew that covering it up could cost his program 5 years of college ball?
This didn't have anything to do with athletics.

Doesn't discredit the idea. So then you develop punishment for whatever group that person belonged to, and you censure the entire school. In the case of Penn State, it is the athletics that get punished. In the U of U case it is the Engineering group. Maybe they lose all accreditation or something similar.

Or athletics could be used in nearly all cases anyway, as that is hitting the university where it hurts, in the pocket book.

Don't get me wrong, I like the way you're thinking. I still think it's wrong to punish the "student athlete" for something the coach did. What you're proposing here punishes innocent kids for having done nothing. Should something be done to punish this harsher? Abso-freaking-lutely.

What kind of sick pervert watches that on an airplane?! That's just ridiculous...

This. I've seen some here mention how dumb it was. Dumb? Yes, obviously. But sick beyond belief waaaaaaaaaaaaay more. How ****ed up in the head must this guy be that he can't go a couple hours without checking this **** out despite knowing he's surrounded by other people? If his urges are that bad, I have to think he's acted on them, sadly, many a time. Seriously, even Sandusky would have slapped this guy across the back of the head had he seen this jagoff doing this out in the open.

Maybe then the offending school has to fund scholarships for any affected students to any other university of their choosing. Double-whammy for not turning in the pervs.

That's still punishing the students but saying, here's this for you though. I think what happened with Penn state us enough of a lesson for other schools not to cover thus stuff up but time will tell.
