Updates on Rudy

And yet this has turned into a discussion thread and there have been no meaningful updates on Rudy's progress.

I know, and that's because the mods want the update to be in the original post reporting his injury. If that's what they want, ok, but I thought it would be better to just have this thread -- we could just start a new one, Updates on Rudy's Progress, if we do that. Maybe we could even get Rudy to post himself -- people here say he reads Jazzfanz.

Sometimes when you post this sort of stuff I actually think you're being serious. Lol.

I'm talking about teh updates. Can the mods see to that? Or does it have to be the author of the OP?

Mods or the OP can update the OP in the stickied thread. Anyone can post in the thread and people will see it as the thread is stickied.

Ok,

Dear Mods,

please post updates on Rudy's status in the OP of the stickied thread. Thanks bunches.

I am. Who knows, Rudy might post once in a while and say something like, "feeling better, making good progress, hope to play by such and such, time will tell."

No, not expecting him to be a regular poster telling us stuff; maybe someone on here has a personal connection to him and could post updates. Why is that crazy? I've interviewed celebrities myself, and they're no different than you or me, just that they've attained celebrity, whether deserved or not.

Believe it or not, the exciting possibility of Gobert coming by and posting a practically meaningless update himself is not the only reason I thought this thread had to be a joke. Guess I was wrong, though.

Rudy's going to be out, what, six weeks? I wouldn't expect him to post an update today, but maybe down the road when he's making progress and the light is at the end of the tunnel, why not -- or just someone who might know Rudy. Why are you bagging on this idea and being such a ... well you can supply the word, I think it starts with a p. And that's not why I posted this thread, not in the expectation that he would post, just to get updates, because people on the site are always looking for news and they might hear something the rest of us haven't. So, what's wrong with that?

I have it on good authority that Rudy had cereal for lunch today.

Are you BHodges? I want to commend you on your great parenting.

Indeed. I wish I caught the beginning of that conversation. My daughter's the one who brought it up. I didn't know she'd been listening in when I told my wife about the injury. Then later on she starts telling me not to be sad about "that big guy" pointing to Rudy's picture on the fridge. She barely turned 3.

Unfortunate injury, let's hope we can tread water until his return. I've heard 6-8 weeks, but knowing Rudy I wouldn't be surprised if he came back sooner. I just hope that he & the team doesn't rush it as we were unlikely to win a title this year regardless. But considering how we (as well as the WC) looked prior to the injury, I think it's safe to say this team has a legitimate shot at competing for a championship within the next 2-3 years (given Gobert recovers, Exum develops, Hayward re-signs, etc).

As much as you hate to see a key player get injured, this could ultimately turnout to be a positive as Booker will get more of an opportunity to increase his trade value, Lyles will get more playing time in order to develop his game, & it will force Snyder to occasionally use Hayward & possibly Ingles at the 4 which will make both more versatile. Obviously everyone was hoping for a playoff run (which is still a possibility) but as long as the injury doesn't have any long-term effects on Gobert, hopefully (like the Exum injury) this is just a minor bump in the road to our 1st NBA Championship.
