Looks like USC just took it on the chin with some fairly tough sanctions:

The USC football program will receive a two-year postseason ban, a reduction in scholarships and a forfeiture of wins from at least the 2004 season when the NCAA releases its sanctions on Thursday, a source told ESPN's Shelley Smith.

Finally throwing that all that money at Lane Kiffin makes sense - they have nothing to play for. How soon until we see only 50,000 showing up at SC games again? The wheels are falling off the bandwagon.

You knew this was coming. There was a reason that Pete Carroll bailed on a sucessful program at the height of its power. He knew the **** storm he created was headed his way.

Carroll will suck in the NFL and will come back as the head coach of another college program within the next 5 years. Probably at a smaller, lesser known school until everyone forgets about USC and his stinkiness in the NFL.

If ever there was a good time for Utah to jump into the PAC-10 it would be immediately. UCLA sucks, USC is hamstrung, Washington is rebuilding, OSU & OU are decent but as we've seen in recent years just above mediocre and everyone else sucks. Utah might actually dominate for a couple of years.

USC hasn't been at the height of its power in three or four years.

Is this similar to how byu was banned for life from playing in bcs games? Or is this different?

Not sure how all this stuff works.

I was listening to Colin Cowherd this morning regarding USC. He made a pretty good comparison of Pete Carroll to the "fun babysitter" who lets the kids watch whatever movies, load them up on sugar, and then leave the parents to deal with the ramifications.
