Anyone surprised by this when we haven't had any direction in over 2 years?

It might very well be what a lot of fans *want*, but they don't want to watch while it's going on.Looks like this, umm... "direction" isn't exactly what the people wanted.
Not enough galaxy brains in the fanbase, I guess.

Losing viewership when your team is losing a lot is inevitable.
I mean we have pro-tankers on this board who have admitted that they havent watched as many games as they usually do.
Anti-tankers are skipping even more games since they hate what we are doing and also want to protest against tanking.
Casuals probably watched early season games, saw a trash team that isnt fighting for anything this season, so they turned their attention elsewhere.
However once the rebuild turns a corner the hardcore fans who didnt get butt-hurt by the tanking and all them casuals hop back into the bandwagon about as quickly as they once abandoned it.
I'd take the under on that bet.It might very well be what a lot of fans *want*, but they don't want to watch while it's going on.
I certainly agree that only a minority of fans (pretty small one too) want a 5-6 year tank. Just saying that a drop in viewership doesn't really say much, that was totally expected.IMO it's highly doubtful that the majority (or even a large part) of the fanbase wants to tank. Ever.
It takes a certain kind of mentality to resign yourself to 5-6 years of intentional losing, and the average fan simply doesn't have it. Another reason why tanking is such a dangerous game.
