My expectations for lyles are really low.... I hated that pick.
Having said that I like him and if he can be a good shooter then I think he will prove me wrong since he is a skilled ball handler and passer for his size/position/age.

If he contributes much this year then it's just icing on the cake.

Yes, yes. I wasn't a fan of the pick either. I knew we were getting a guy with good court vision who could stretch the floor and is coordinated for his size but more of a finesse guy.

Though he played for an insanely-stacked college team and he's young so he may pleasantly surprise us with more. I have no clue how good he can truly be I hope he exceeds expectations and makes us eat crow. If he can play good defense and improve it will be interesting.

I forgot to add that I liked how burks and neto did allot of full court pressing.
Boler and harpring accurately pointed out that the press was causing the Lakers too use to much time before they could even get into their offense.

Also love the pace that the jazz are playing at.... Closest guy to the ball inbounds, after rebounds or made shots simply getting the ball to a ball handler (not specifically a pg like in the past), passing ahead, etc

Yeah, now maybe CY will finally get on the Burks train. He has never given Burks many props.

The situation were "intentionally foul when ahead" is actually a good strategy is essentially a corner case. It requires you to be up by a very specific number of points in a very specific short-clock situation. This is an instance where adding additional layers of rules probably creates more confusion than its worth. I'm also not 100% against forcing players to be able to hit free throws as a real skill. I think this was a substantial percentage of Chauncey Billups' late game value during his career.

The foul while you're ahead is even valuable when you're ahead by two a lot of times(Think you know your opponents have a very lethal attacker and good spot ups and your defenders aren't the best at closing out after containing inside or lack rim protection)
An 80% free throw shooter will statistically hit two in a row only 64% of the time(So 36% of the time you preserved at least a lead by one before a potential rebounding scenario)
Especially Serbian coaches employ this strategy a lot. Like a LOT.
The way I like this one best is when you have really good defensive rebounders(Gobert, Favors), an aggressive guard that pressures the ball until the half court line and then commits the foul(think Exum).
This helps you shave off like 6-7 sec each possession and give a good foul with almost no chance of the attacker starting a random shooting motion.
