Some people do mix those things. It's not the smart move but it happens. I don't blame Ace for not being jaded at 18 when it comes to how people can take advantage of him.

My whole point is that it's not a smart move. And that it's not a good look. And I do blame Ace, because he's been hearing about better options (time- and industry-tested) for years now.
 
Drafting him based upon what his camp had said was a high risk high reward move. IF you believe he is the best talent, you take the risk and hope he shows up. What you also hope for is that it stays quiet enough that we dont have to fire sale him before he ever plays.

Yeah, its' dumb, but Im sure he was under pressure from his family. Sadly a lot of people are going to take advantage of him in these ways and make him feel guilty if he isnt bringing everyone along.

Yeah, Im sure it will to.

Even if he sits out all year, he would have to re-enter the draft. He would have a huge negative perception from teams and may fall even further and still ultimately get drafted to somewhere he doesnt want to go.

I think the only possibility is if Ace's agent can convince Washington to give Utah a godfather offer for Ace, which I also highly doubt happens.
 
If Bailey refuses to play for Utah, which I don't think he will since he's already talked about playing here, I think that might ruin the franchise ... just absolutely obliterate it as a Utah team. I don't know how you come back from that after tanking a season and now not even getting your lottery pick. It would be like the Grizzlies situation when they drafted Stevie Francis, despite being told he did not want to play there. That led to the downfall of the Grizzlies in Vancouver. If Utah gets kicked in the teeth by Bailey refusing to play ... just turn out the lights and call Salt Lake a hockey town.
