Utah Jazz Summer League Topic

I didn't get to watch the game, so I watched the highlights, which can give an incomplete picture.

Does Ballin' Boy run the floor really well? It looked like he was outran the lakers 2 or 3 times?

Did he hit a corner three? He made three long jumpers.

He looks good when he starts and plays major minutes, not so much when he was backing up lyles. Can Ballin' Boy adapt to coming off the bench for short segments?

Balling Boy can run very well. I think he was outrun because of inattention. He runs just like the Mailman. In fact, he reminded me of the Mailman from the first time I saw him. Not that he will be as good, but he is a better leaper. I think we will have a player in him. I'm pretty much sold on him.

oops, my bad, that should have read: " It looked like he was outrunning the Lakers 2 or 3 times."

I was surprised he got ahead of the defense, I liked it, my Mailman bias says bigs should run the floor. Favors drives me crazy when he loafs instead of sprinting.

He looked pretty damn good to me. Either get a promise that he stays in the D-league or Europe this year to keep his rights, or move Pleiss and keep him. Still think I'd like the Jazz to make a move for Rudy Gay. Ship Pleiss, Diaw and picks to Sacramento and keep JB with the spot that opens up. Gay/Bolomboy > Diaw/Pleiss.

If I was the Jazz I wouldn't want anything to do with Rudy Gay's 14 million dollar player option for 17-18. And why move Diaw? He's a 4 who can play 5. Backup center is a weak point on this team. Rudy Gay is a 3 who can play small ball 4 but we already have Hayward, JJ and Ingles for that. Not sure where Gay would get minutes.

Rudy Gay adds nothing to this team that we don't already have. He doesnt have a great track record of improving teams. I'd pass, just keep Diaw.

Rudy Gay's value comes in the playoffs when teams trend smaller. We don't need him to play the 4 much in the regular season, but it would be handy to have a guy like that in the post season.

Starting lineup of Gobert, Favors, Hayward, Hood, Hill. Then shift to combinations of (5) Gobert / Favors (4) Gay / Lyles (3) Hayward / Iso Joe (2) Hood / Burks (1) Hill / Exum. Finish the game with the hot hands and clutch guys from throughout the season based on situation and circumstance. In that type of scenario, Gay gives you more than Diaw does, although short of trading for Rudy Gay, I's still use the same strategy - just with Diaw / Lyles at the 4.

That's my thought process behind it. Good point that his $14 million player option carries more risk than Diaw/Pleiss at $10.5 million non-guaranteed.

If we are going to cut Pleiss, I'd rather get so many other people than Bolomboy.

Whether or not we keep BB, I don't see how keeping Pleiss adds anything. He's not a good rebounder or shotblocker, and now we have a really good player in Diaw who can be a stretch 5, if needed.

Cooley's still trying to make it with this Bulls team... well even if he can't make it, at least he has a cute architect girlfriend...
