Tonight's game will be played at the Honda Center in Anaheim. The last time the Jazz played in Anaheim was for a preseason game against the Lakers on October 19, 2010. The Jazz won the game 82-74 to run their preseason record to 7-0. CJ Miles scored a game-high 14 points.

I'm not really sure what to make of this post. You don't strike as me as an NBA n00b, but just google the Lakers if you really don't know the answer to that.

yeah defintally not a noob... just thought id try to get some more convo going... the names of teams use to be an interesting topic... do you remember when there were talks about changing names.. it might have been just on the boards though..

The Los Angeles Lakers franchise started out in Detroit in 1946 as the Gems. After one season in Detroit the team was sold and relocated to Minneapolis, Minnesota and the team's name changed to the Minnesota Lakers. The motto of the state of Minnesota is the "Land of 10,000 Lakes", hence the nickname Lakers for the team. The team again relocated, this time to Los Angeles, in 1960 and retained the nickname Lakers.
