Utah Jazz vs Lakers Emergency Game Thread

I know that's hard to swallow and believe me I feel very uncomfortable having to defend Burke for the production he's put out, but Trey has had two full NBA seasons(most of them playing against starter PGs) better than Cotton's summer league.

I'll wait and see how cotton looks in the preseason when he can trust some of the other players around him to provide some offense

This is a very valid point. I think the question comes down to Neto v. Cotton. Between the two, I'd go with Neto. He had a solid (better than Burke, but that's not saying much) summer league followed by major league play. He's also a better facilitator and taller.

Cotton has probably played his way into the league, and I'm happy for him. If he's on the Jazz again and we keep 4 PGs, that's great.

Was this game not televised? I would've DVR'd it if I could find it. I tried to DVR the replay last night but it was BLACKED OUT. Huh? Sigh.

Lyles finally has a good game but it's impossible to find. I call shenanigans. This game never happened.

Are we sure Neto is taller? By fractions msybe? From the link I left on bottom of page 7, this quote:

"Burke, Cotton and Neto are each listed at 6-1, which apparently is the standard height by which all undersized guards must be listed on the roster according to some unwritten team or NBA regulation.

I say this because I've stood a couple of feet away from each one of them in interview situations, and I am pretty sure none of them are taller me. And thanks to getting shorter — and fatter — with advanced age — and bad eating habits — I barely stand 6 feet tall anymore."

Okay, that makes TB more ready to play in October, 2015. But its not about that, it is about April-May-June 2017 and onward.

Cotton shot 42% in 15 games the end of last season. Maybe that's a truer snapshot in the long run then 35% in 7 games in 10 days in SL. 95% from the line in SL. Just in that last game, of 11 shots taken, 4 were at the rim and are made way more then missed. He missed all 4. I don't believe that would be the norm at all, and I see no reason why he can't get back above 40%. And, obviously, he will get a lot of points at the charity stripe. He did score the last 4 points of the win over LA at the line. He needs to get much better with the jump shot, and I think he will.

Even if shooting is a wash, Cotton is the better choice. He plays with pace and looks to distribute the ball. The biggest argument for Trey has been that he was a "leader" and a "winner" in college. That's great on an initial resume, but now job performance is what counts.

I fully expect Burke to be the #2 PG to open the season. And that WON'T be a reflection on Bryce. Jazz simply need to try to increase Burke's trade value.
