even a hs coach or middle school coach knows that andrea bargnani can't play 3 and you couldn't have 4 idiots who doesn't have any single clue in defense on court.

Makes you wonder what Jeff Hornacek was thinking all those years he had to watch Corbin "lead" as head coach.

I heard that he and Corbin didnt get along. Judging from what Hornacek has been able to do in Phx and what Corbin has done here in utah, I have little doubt as to why...

For the jazz its not so much about skills/talent/who is best for the job. Its about whose turn it is and who is more of a vet.

Question: When was Hornacek hired by the Jazz as an assistant coach?

Answer: After Sloan left. Prior to that the only experience he had was as a shooting consultant for AK. He didn't want a full-time coaching position because of family considerations (i.e. children at home).

So hiring Corbin originally had nothing to do with passing over Hornacek. Corbin deserved the opportunity he was given. He was a highly regarded assistant coach around the league. When a coach is fired or resigns, the interim coach is almost always one of the assistants (usually the lead assistant). In this case, Sloan AND Johnson left and Corbin, as the #2 assistant took over. Hornacek was not a full-time coach and was nowhere close to having the ability to take over a team in 2011, especially given the circumstances.

I guess you could say they passed over Hornacek, who had been on the bench for just a couple of months, when they removed the "interim" title from Ty and gave him the reigns for 2011/12. As a huge critic of Ty, I would defend the decision to give him his chance. No one can be judged against the finish to the 2011 season after the Sloan resignation and the big trade. Corbin deserved an additional year and led the team to the playoffs in the strike-shortened season. Last year, IMO, was the defining yardstick. A veteran team that struggled along at .500 all year (well, 43-39...close enough!). Team didn't really progress during the year, with an 18-18 record from Feb-Apr.
