I'm sure he could find a post in a thread on yardbarker or some other website from five years ago that would tell you everything you'd ever wish to know.

The stupid state legislature actually passed this crap bill. The version passed says schools are allowed to opt-out of teaching sex education all together. If they choose to teach it, they are ONLY allowed to teach abstinence. The bill is now awaiting the signature of the oh so wonderful Gary Herbert. An online petition has been started to try to get Herbert to veto the bill. Who knows if it will do any good, but it's quickly gaining a lot of signatures. I was sitting on the house floor when this bill came up. It was hotly debated, but most people that voted in favor of it were verbally saying they were only voting yes so the bill could get killed quicker.

How does that make any sense? Voting yes to kill a bill? These bums really need to be voted out of office.
Anti-birth control? I don't know anyone who is.
I guess I have heard that the catholic church doesn't like it, but I have never heard anyone say that birth control should be banned.
I have however, heard democrats ACCUSE Republicans of wanting to ban it.
And I thought that the Utah State Legislature was only interested in keeping people from buying beer after midnight.

After the initial vote was tied, they had to do some procedures that I'd never seen before, and one of the reps actually stood up and spoke into his mic, "So if I want this bill to die, what should I vote? Just tell me how to vote!" -- to a good hearty laugh from all in attendance. It was pretty pathetic, really.

Deep down at the core of it, this shouldn't be a school issue anyway. This should be something that responsible parents make their children aware of. However...
As it stands, it seems like many (most?) parents can barely be bothered with the job of raising children. If they don't get good info at home, where will they get it? Ignoring the issue does not keep kids from having with sex. Giving them information that can protect them actually may. It will, at least, give them some guidelines.
