So today I got a medical MJ card in Utah. I don't know what took me so long. I thought I would have a bunch of paperwork and I'd need to get medical records to support my medical claims, but uhhh, no. I spent about 7 min in the office of the QMP (qualified medical provider) and most of that was with the staff to log-in to the state site you have to register with and then to have them print my card and laminate it while someone else explained the discounts you get by using their services for a first-time card.

Hopefully anyone that wants one just does it. I don't even really like weed and don't use it very often, but my wife does and that's the only reason I do any at all.

There's a handful of dispensaries in the Salt Lake Valley, with a few a bit north that do free delivery to the Salt Lake Valley. Prices aren't great, but having a good selection (not great, but good) and knowing exactly what you're getting is worth the difference, besides all the BS of hooking up with a dealer. With this they have posted hours, you walk in, or get delivery, or do their drive-through, and get what you want when you want.

So anyway, I was just kind of blown away by how easy it was. Anyone else care to share their thoughts?

Ya it was way easy to get the card but then a bit of a pain with the fees and the website. I went to a dispensary and saw the prices were pretty high and plus the fact that I would have to pay more fees about 6 months later and then yearly and I just let my card expire.
Also, im similar to you in that my wife is the one who uses marijuana rather than myself and she has no problem getting her own marijuana as she sees her dealer all the time (they have been best friends for decades) and the price is way way cheaper through her friend.

I went to a dispensary while staying in telluride colorado a few years ago and the prices were amazing! (also its legal recreationally there so no card needed) It was like 18 bucks for 1/8 (3.5 grams)

I tried cannabis for pain and it did essentially nothing for me. Also I don't react to THC in a "normal" way so it did nothing for me on the recreational front either. So I'm just a nah on weed for any reason really. Having been in California for the last 7 years it was way easy to get anything you wanted. No experience with it in Utah really.

For me, for short-term treatment of acute pain, I use kratom. It's been the best thing I've found, helped me reduce my usage of harder pain killers like percocet.

My son is working in Oregon for the summer and my wife(who does not partake) visited him and decided to buy some THC gummies. The other day we took some together, she gobbled two without really thinking about it and I was like whoa, you sure that's not too much? She got soooo baked. I look out the window and she's standing like a statue watching the pool vacuum do its thing... I look out five minutes later and she hasn't moved. Lol. I dig the chronic though and have since the age of 15. Quit for 18 years, figuring I'd take it back up at the age of 60 but at the age of 46 thought to myself, I might die before 60 what am I waiting for. My wife told me the other day that a lot people she knows and works with, people in their 40's, 50's, 60's who are very successful are eating gummies like candy. I think a lot of people as they get older are drinking less and getting into THC.

I'm surprised she didn't green out entirely. That's what happened to me. It does nothing to me at all until I've taken way too much then it's hell.

For me MJ is mostly a sleep aid. I only enjoy it in the late evening. If I use any during the day I've just completely wasted the day because I don't want to go anywhere and I especially don't want to be around anyone who I didn't use the MJ with. I get really self conscious about how stupid I am when high, I mean for me that's the worst part, I feel like everyone I interact with 100% knows I'm high or they just assume I'm a ****ing idiot and I'm trying their patience by being so dumb. I also tend to get paranoid, but living in a single family home that I own helps that a lot because I'm not worried about a landlord or nosey apt neighbors.

I like the idea of edibles and a couple times I've taken them and had effects in about 30min, but the last several times I get zero effect that evening and wake up high AF 6-8 hours later. That's no good when that's also the time when I need to get ready to go to work.
