What's new

Utah played at a 50-win pace when Exum was on the floor and a 34-win pace when he was off.

Developed by Bleacher Report's analytics guru, Adam Fromal, Factor Adjusted Team Similarities (FATS) can measure an individual player's impact on basketball's four factors: shooting, turnovers, rebounding and free throws.

It also estimated that Utah won at least seven more games just by having him on the team.

I know their was alot and still is guys here who aren't convinced Exum will turn into a stud for the Jazz ...myself I am

And I was very happy with his speed and the way he played every PG (In a PG League)on defense .I know guys knock him on his confidence because he didn't attack the basket like they wanted him to. BUT he attacked every PG without fear on defense where in reality he should have been the most scared of against all the great PG's.I'm just glad he didn't get hurt and knows he can play defense against anyone .Knowing that ,his offense will grow with the confidence he picks up playing all the great PG's nite after nite.

Interesting. It will be exciting to see how much Exum, Hood, Gobert and Snyder improve. That along with the return of Burks and I think this is a big year for Utah.

Hmm, Exum played with starters and our bench wasn't as good as our starters...I think the starters were more of the reason than Exum.

Agreed. Exum's minutes coincided with Rudy's the whole year. He came off the bench with Rudy the first half of they year. And started with Rudy the second half of the year.
That said, he was a better player than his 5 PER would indicate.

Exum guarded better players nite in and nite out than Gobert did or probably anyone else on the Jazz did ,though Favors had great players to guard at the 4 spot a lot.

Gobert got to guard the paint because theirs less elite Centers.Even the elite Centers went at Gobert, thats why Gobert is working on his leg strength this summer to be stouter in the middle.

This guarding so many great PG's every nite is why I think Exum will be better and the biggest surprise of all the Jazz players next season.

Exum did help the team imo... but his numbers are slightly exaggerated also imo because of who took over when he wasn't on the floor.

Burke.

Exum Fats On = 50 Fats Off = 34 Diff = 16 Wins added 7.39
Burke Fats On = 37 Fats Off = 45 Diff = -8 Wins added -4.71

I'm pretty sure the fact that Exum helped the team overall compounded with the fact that Burke did not overall in the areas evaluated, that both numbers are a bit higher or lower than they might be if someone better was backing him up.

Also if these numbers told the whole story, we would be starting Millsap, while Evans and Hayward would be the 6th and 7th players off the bench respectively. If you want to win, that is.

He was actually the best player in +/- and on-off numbers all year. He was the only one barely getting on the positive side of things when we were losing a lot in the first third of the season, and he kept the numbers up when he was starting and we started winning. Some of it is Quin putting him in the best situation to succeed and not allowing him to struggle too much when things got ugly. The other part is his defense - in practice what happened was - he improved our defense immensely along with Rudy and at the same time the inefficient possessions of Burke went to efficient possessions for Hayward and Favors... In short - he helped defense and in offense he was doing so little that he wasn't hindering the team much.

Big year. Maybe they will move to 14 in lottery from 12.

Exum is a bitch he is not a real man. He has nothing under his skirt. Jazz need to trade whilst value is still obtainable. Look at Kanter situation. Everyone typ start start star why no start. Jazz listen until traded for nothing. This is not good strategy by Mr Lindsey my friends.

So he starts and the team gets noticeably better. He doesn't complain or ask to start, plays the role he is given and this makes him a bitch? Please expound on these stupi...insightful thoughts of yours.

How he plays his role? Snyder asks him to be more agressive and he refuse? We have discussed this all year long where you have been?

He's still young. What did you achieve when you were 18?

Link? Please show where Snyder asks him to be more aggressive, and he refused, thanks. And by the way he was starting to be a little more aggressive at the end of the year.

one alt troll gets banned and suddenly another mysteriously shows up. How convenient.

You have to keep going down the rabbit hole. Both of them show up in sequence after a regular poster threatens to quit posting.

And our starters were playing against opposing team starters, who were better than their bench.
