What's new

Utah State University is BOWL ELIGIBLE!!

It's been fun and stressful watching the Aggie games this season. But it's sure nice to see another W in the win column!
If only they could have closed out a few of the games at the first of the year :( I'm still happy that they have found how to win now. Hopefully they can finish out this year strong and have a little momentum going into next season :)
Go Ags!!

They still need BYU to beat Hawaii to get into a bowl though don't they? Eligible is one thing, getting into an actual bowl is different. If Hawaii can't get into their bowl, Utah State would go. That's what I heard at Best Buy during Black Friday, but I could be wrong. Anyone got anything on this?

There are so many bowls, they'll probably get one no matter what. Some conference won't fill their bowls and USU will get into one. But the Y should beat Hawaii, so it probably won't matter.

Haha just glad to have a bowl. For being a regional state school with various limitations, we are lucky to have such great coaches. Stew Morrill and Gary Anderson are a very solid tandem and I'm glad they're aggies.

Stew is staying no doubt about it. Anderson, if he has another good year, will be courted like crazy.

That's what I'm afraid of. Losing Gary :( Even though it's been pretty rough, the football program is making progress, and I'
d hate to see it make a step backwards now with a departure by Gary.

I like the fact that we only played one freshman (Keeton) this year. All the other recruits will have one year in the system before they even play a game.

Good for them. Despite having a penchant for blowing games, this is easily the best Utah St. team in 10+ years. Anderson is doing great work for them.

My guess is that Robert Turbin will declare for the draft, but if by some miracle he stays one more year, Utah State could have a monster year next season. Utah is back on the schedule next season. That will be an intetesting game to say the least.

As an Aggie fan, I totally expect Turbin to declare. The only way he sticks around, in my opinion, is if he gets told that he may not get drafted. The dude has already been here 6 years and the shelf life of an NFL running back is not that long. If he does stay, I would be one happy man but I'm not going to blame him one bit if he jumps. Also losing Wagner this year will be big but Anderson has said that there is a spitting image of a player waiting in the wings (sorry can't remember his name right now) so hopefully we won't lose too much there. Other than that I think we have a bunch of underclassmen to put on the field next season. Should be fun. Hopefully we can have a great season and win our bowl game before the world ends on 12/21/12...

For selfish reasons, I'd love to see Turbin stay, but I do think it's too much to ask of him. You already mentioned the shelf life of an NFL RB, not to mention the fact that he's already blown out 2 knees. Even if he gets rated as a mid/late round pick he should take his shot.

Either way, I think Gary has gotten enough players into the system that he should be able to build off of this year. It will be interesting to see how long he sticks around in Logan. The guy's coaching career is so tied to the state of Utah that maybe the Aggies will get lucky and he stays for a while. Then again, if you're the guy who turns USU into a team that's bowling every year and winning 8-to-10 games in the process, it's only a matter of time before a BCS school shows up with a dump truck full of cash.

I'm happy for the Aggie program, and fans. They deserve it.
I like Gary Anderson, and think he's done a great job there.
I hope he can keep them good for 5+ years before the dump truck arrives.

Turbin reminds me a lot of a Marion Barber type back. I think he could have a good NFL career as a short yardage and goal line back.

Sounds like Utah St accepted an invite to the Famous Idaho Bowl or whatever the hell it's called. I guess they'll face a MAC team (most likely Toledo or Ohio). I'm guessing Aggie fans will travel in droves up to Boise and it will almost be like a home game for USU.
