Utah Trade Deadline Discussion

Another big story is the Brooklyn pick is basically locked in now since the Cavs can't trade it due to the Stepian Rule. Can only do a swap or acquire another 1st to trade that.

How so? Clarkson is a very good 6th man (15 pts). So is Nance (around 9/7).

This isn't the IT of last year. He's a shadow of his former self and a complete matador on defense. He has also been quick to criticize teammates and the coaching staff (Love for being sick and Lue for not making adjustments). Cavs upgraded the bench and got rid of a cancer. Frye barely plays, so no loss there.

Clarkson is the guy that scores a lot of points on a bad team... AB might be able to do something similar on a bad team. His contract is too long for what he is.

Clarkson is paid way too much for the value he provides. He's a mid-level type guy if that.

You dont get the salary implications then. This trade is so lobsided, Lakers should never have got off those contracts without giving uo something.
Of course I get the salary implications. Cleveland had to dump IT and the whole league knew it. Cleveland just is happy they got a piece back that can help them win this year.

I get the player value but there is no reason they should have had to include the 1st. I still don't see the logic in that part of the deal.

Why oh why do the Lakers and Celtics get everything to go their way every freaking time?

Watch those dickheads use the pick (and some other stuff) they acquired to get off the Luol Deng contract.

I actually really like Clarkson, but thought he was a bit overpaid. And I think IT and Frye for Clarkson makes sense for both. However, I still can't comprehend how the Lakers got the 1st rounder out of Cleveland too.

The Cavs could have used their pick to get a Favors, Bradley, etc. This trade is really, really fishy.
