Utah Trade Deadline Discussion

There is also cultural factors. When I go to Bundesliga games a lot more fans use public transportation and a lot more fans drink. Soccer has more of a tailgating atmosphere that the NBA simply does not have. The NBA has a more TV friendly game as well. I've always wondered if the NBA would look better on TV if the venues were smaller, more intimate, with a lot more raucous. Heck, I had season tickets to the Jazz for two years (nose-bleeds) and I would often wonder if watching it on the TV was better. The only reason I held on to the tickets was because there was nothing quite like playoff atmosphere.

This ^^

Unless you have good seats, the NBA is almost always more enjoyable to watch from your couch. I bet there are other factors as well. Some teams charge way too much for the product they put out, oh and also EPL only play 38 games per season. Same argument for the NFL. Less games means less over-saturation and more incentive to catch the game.

Along those lines...
82 nba games with the average attendance of 17,319 (statista) multiplied by 15 (30 teams/2 teams per game) gives you around 21.7 million tickets sold per regular season.

38 EPL games with the average attendance at
40,410 (statista) multiplied by 10 (20 teams/2 teams per game) gives you around 15.3 million tickets sold per regular season.

Not sure of my math since it’s 6am and I need my coffee still but the nba actually sells more tickets than EPL. Just a matter of the TV product and the sheer number of nba games

Hoopshype reporting the Pistons are looking at a Hood for Stanley Johnson trade. Hmm.

They can keep looking just like I can go to the Ferrari dealership and look.

That would be a bad deal and I was a big Stanley Johnson fan.

I just want Stockton to come back and play 15-20 minutes a game. Is that too much to ask?
The Clippers are cutting the fat. They are clearing the roster. They want to stay relevant now for a playoff push but clear cap for as soon as this summer. Their most immovable contract is Gallinari who is a guy we had interest in last summer. They cant move Gallinari without moving a pick. Jordan or Lou Williams won't be enough.

This trade makes sense for us and them:
Gallinari, Beverley & the Detroit pick
for
Favors, JoeJ and our 2nd
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ydf7x9oj

Why for LA - The Clippers would win more with Favors and JoeJ because Gallinari has been so injured. Plus, Favors and JoeJ are expirings whereas DG is due $20+ the next two years. Beverley is good but out for the year. The Clippers can still turn Jordan, Lou Williams and Bradley into picks so losing the Detroit pick (top 4 protected) isnt that bad. They also save $4 million in this deal. Before it, they were less than a million from the luxury. This added space gives them more flexibility with other deals.

Why for us - for those wanting a tank but be better for down the road, this is the deal. It would allow us to let Gobert, Exum, and Gallinari fully heal and rest appropriately. We would add a 2018 first projected to be 10-16. Gallinari fits next to Gobert so well for the next two years. Beverley could help us next year if we exercise his option.

What say you?

I'd do it, mainly cause in this scenario we get Beverley and keep Hood.

He needs to stay healthy before you start blaming the coaching staff.
please Trade Exum. The kid needs a chance. He would never develop under the Snyder's coaching.

You mean a coaching staff that is making a name for itself by developing players wont develop a player? One that they were going to give a much bigger role to but then said player got injured.

Get real lol.

Right on Whisky

The Clippers would be very bold to do this. They would be making it very clear that signing Blake and Gallinari were mistakes. If they could dump both contracts and still have Bradley and Harris, I think it's good business.

For us, we just have to realize that we aren't a premiere free agent destination. We wanted Gallinari before, but we couldn't afford him even if he considered us. He does fit (when he is healthy). His two years are big, but not crippling.

If the Clippers wanted to keep Beverley, we could do:

Gallinari, some lower level throw in and Detroit's pick
for
Burks, JoeJ, our 2nd and a future 2nd

Clippers still save $10 for this summer and $22 for 2019.

I heard the coach and trainers are intentionally re-injuring his shoulder just to ruin his career.

So unfair.

I assume we'd get a pick or two for such a trade.

The next pick they can trade is in 2020... who knows. I’d do a 2020 1st and Stanley depending on protections... not sure they want to go full Brooklyn Nets doe.

Rodney Hood fits that new Pistons lineup so, so well. Jackson, Hood, Griffen and Drummond is very good. Not great but good.

Johnson and the 2020 pick for Hood is fair. I would also say Johnson and Kennard for Hood and Jerekbo is also fair.

What type of player is Kennard? Reason I ask is that Jerebko is a perfect back up 4 for this team.

I like Jerekbo a ton, but Stanley and Kennard are better for the long haul. Kennard is a JJ Reddick type player. A Gordon Giricek. He is on the first year of his rookie deal. He is going to get better, but I would imagine his ceiling is about where Hood is. Detroit wants to win now and Hood does that more for Detroit than Johnson and/or Kennard.
