Utah: 2 undefeated seasons and 2 BCS bowl wins. Finished second in 2008. A lot of college football fans, coaches, and media across the country felt and feel Utah should have been #1 in 2008, when they were undefeated after playing a BCS caliber schedule. Utah has since been invited to and joined a BCS conference so that never again will they finish undefeated without winning a championship.
BYU: Had 1 undefeated season in 1984 after playing a WAC schedule and beating a .500 team in a crappy bowl game. Due to no BCS system they shared a split national championship. Most college football fans, coaches, and media across the country felt and feel that BYU didn't deserve even a share of the title. The BCS system was made in large part to ensure that a sham like this never happens again. BYU has never even sniffed a BCS bowl. BYU over estimated their importance and now appear to be out of options as far as joining a BCS conference- with even Air Force and Boise State getting invited to a BCS conference already.
Yeah, I would rather be a Utah fan clinging to this, than a BYU fan clinging to a false share of the title from almost 30 years ago.
