Utes 2011 Football Discussion

Rumors say Rich Rodriguez to Arizona. What say ye?

I think I read today that his record at West Virginia was something like 60-and-26. While that's obviously a nice winning %, it's not exactly like he had a ton of competition in the Big East. IMO he was given enough time at Michigan and left the Wolverine program worse than before he got there. I was more worried about the possibility of Mike Leach landing in Zona, but I suppose he'll still be a target for UCLA and Arizona State should either of those schools decide to fire their Coach.

I'd have to register it as a big "meh" of a hire.

What about at 9??? I doubt it will be that high simply because they may not get the love they (supposedly) deserve but still, what if?

I'm going over 9 and saying 10 wins. Honestly we should be favored to win the South, and we have USC at home. I don't think it's that crazy of a statement to say that we'll go 10-2 next year.

Utah will have a tougher schedule next year.. consider that..

They will have the rotation of the schedule so they will have Oregon/Stanford on the schedule. Stanford isn't as big of a deal as Oregon is.. thats almost a guaranteed loss IMO.

Cal is a 5 point dog to Az State right now in most polls, guess we need another upset.

ASU has been trending downward, sharply, but Cal is so bipolar as to ruin any good vibe for this game. I'm just crossing my fingers that Maynard has his **** together. Cal can be tough when he does.

No they don't. They play the same conference teams as this season, but in the other stadium. The rotations are every other year, not every year.

I don't know that Stanford or Oregon will be better than Utah next year anyway. It's way too early to say either one will be better than Utah.

They will have to play Oregon and Stanford, but both will be losing key players and we don't know yet where they will be played. Honestly I don't think the schedule will be any harder next year than this year. I actually think Washington will be a better team next year than Stanford. The non conference is Utah State and BYU, with the 3rd probably being another Division II team so no worries there.

Again, I don't think it's a stretch to say the Utes will go 10-2 next year.

Actually I didn't realize it was a 2 year rotation. If that's the case, Utah has an easier schedule next year with USC coming to Rice Eccles and the 3 non conference games will be easy wins.

Totally agreed. The only reason I didn't go out on a limb and predict 10 wins (or better) is because of possible injuries, coaching changes, NFL draft declarations, and other such events that could change the season.

Barring any of that though, Utah should be the favorite for the whole conference, not just the division.

12-0. National champs. Bronco does a bank commercial making light of 54-10, and then gets beat 54-10 again. Book it.

As of right now, I think Utah only has 2 non conference games scheduled for next year (BYU and Utah St). I'm curious to see if Utah tries to schedule an early season showdown between a high profile school from another BCS conference. Oklahoma and Va Tech still have some open dates early in the season........
