Utes 2011 Football Discussion

Look, I obviously don't know the team as well as you do, Salty, so tell you what...since you've got the Utes going at least 10-2 next year, I'll give YOU the advantage and let you pick 10 games they'll win. If they lose one of those ten, I win.

$100?
So you're saying you aren't qualified to disagree with me, and then going on to disagree with me anyway?

If you think Utah will lose 3 games, list them and we'll bet.

Otherwise, it's pretty awesome when even the biggest haters on the board can't go on the record and predict 3 losses out of a PAC 12 schedule. So much for all that crap about Utah being the Colorado State of the PAC 12.

I just set some pretty simple terms. Do you need me to repeat them? Or are you backing down from your 10-win prediction?

That's what I thought.

Not backing down at all. My offer stands. List the games you're betting on and I'll bet whatever amount you want.

So...you DON'T think they'll win 10, then. It takes a man to admit he made a mistake. I salute you.
To chicken **** to bet? Gotcha. Keep talking. When you're ready to put your money where your mouth is, let me know (we both know you won't).

It sure is nice when even the biggest haters on the board have to admit they're too chicken **** to predict 3 losses out of a PAC 12 schedule. I guess Utah isn't the Colorado State of the PAC 12 after all.

USC is going to be a mighty tough game but IMO the Thursday night setting is going to give Utah their best possible chance of knocking them off. A national TV spotlight game, a hostile crowd, and an amped up team are usually the key ingredients for an upset. Is it likely? Probably not but certainly stranger things have happened.

Even though Cal is @ Utah, that game could still be a loss. Cal is returning alot of the players that beat Utah's *** this last year. The same thing can be said about the game up in Washington. Even with the huge question mark at QB, I think next years Utah team is talented enough all-around to go 9-and-3. If they get a little lucky and get good production and not alot of mistakes out of the QB spot, maybe even better.

Oh, and one more thought: Utah is going to absolutley DRiLL Reily Tebow and his buddies from down south. It might not end up being another 44 point win, but it will look pretty damn similar. After that, Chris Hill won't renew the series which will allow BYU to start scheduling a more winnable game in place of Utah.

C'mon, you haven't even listed ONE team that the Utes will beat. And you call yourself a fan. For shame.

And, for the record, I've ALREADY put my money where my mouth is (see post #1212). You haven't listed your guaranteed victories yet. That's ok -- I can respect a man who protects his money.

You haven't put your money anywhere. If you want to bet, then list the games you want to bet on.

You can't do that? Yeah, I know. It's just hollow hating when in reality you know I'm right. I know it pains you to admit Utah is the best and most successful program in the state

And if you decide to predict 3 Utah losses, let me know. We'll bet whatever amount you want, on any 3 regular season games you want.

You pick the games, any 3, and any amount. Can't back up your smack any better than that.

There you have it. Haters will be quick to call me a homer, but good luck finding one who will bet against it.

How about this, Saltster -- I'll bet you $25.00 that Utah loses 2 games next year. I'll go double or nothing that one of the games they lose will be BYU. I'm not picking the other team, so stfu and just agree.

I said I couldn't see them losing "more than 2 regular season games". So why would I bet they would lose even less than that?

If you're disagreeing, then you're claiming they will lose at least 3 games. And if we're betting, then you're telling me the games you want to bet on.

What I'm getting out of this is the haters aren't confident enough to predict any 3 of those games as losses. It's "cool" in the Ute hater circle to write me off as a homer. But when push comes to shove, none of them are confident that I am actually wrong.

On the contrary, I can look at BYU's crappy schedule next year, which is only half done at this point, and pick out 3 losses (assuming the half done schedule they showed on the news last night was correct).

I will even up my challenge to make it easier for you haters.

You pick 3 Utah losses, 1 has to be to BYU. If Utah wins at least 1 of those games, I win the bet.

I will also make a separate bet for the same amount where I pick 3 BYU losses, with 1 of them being to Utah. If BYU wins one of those games, you win the bet.

Alternatively, you can just pick any 3 Utah games and we can bet on those without the separate BYU bet.

Your move, haters.

I'm game.

Utah will lose the following:

Thurs., Oct. 4
USC at Utah

Sat., Nov. 10
Utah at Washington

Fri., Nov. 23
Utah at Colorado

And I think there's a better than average chance they lose to BYU. It won't shock me if Cal punks them at home as well.
