Verizon Android

I think I'm going to try an android for a while. Is there one better than another? I also need to buy one, probably used, for 200 or less. Do I have options? Thoughts?

Get an iphone...best phone on the market.

Viny doesn't know what he's talking about. I would say the best Android phones currently on Verizon are: Motorola Droid X, Motorola Droid 2, and HTC Droid Incredible. There are better Android phones coming within the next 3-6 months geared towards Verizon's 4G network. It doesn't sound like you'll be too interested in those, so I'd say any of the 3 models I mentioned would be your best bet.

No im pretty sure the iphone is the best phone on the market. The iphone 4 has like artificial intelligence.

I have heard the Verizon iPhone won't let you do phone calls and web/apps at the same time.

That is true, because it will be on Verizon's 3G network. Their 3G network is not capable of simultaneous voice and data. That is one of the many benefits of their 4G network, as it does allow simultaneous voice and data.

Is that really a big deal to most? Obviously you would prefer having the option of using both at the same time, but I wonder how many people really consider not having the option as a deal killer.

I have an iPhone. I will likely go back to the iPhone after v.5 on Verizon is released. So I need a good, affordable Android option for the next 6 months.

After you use Android, I honestly think you won't want to go back to iPhone. Android is so much more powerful than the iPhone. Apple can't keep up with the innovating Google is doing with Android.

I don't really know of places that sell used phones. Maybe check eBay, but you'd have to be careful of what you buy there.

Best decision. The iphone cannot be stopped. I am also waiting for the 5 version.

"The HTC Evo can ****ing print money."

"Is it an iPhone?"

"No but it can grant wishes even if one of those wishes is for an iPhone."

"I don't care."

Wait til Verizon launches their iPhone. They also have a bunch of new generation Android phones hitting the market in a few months. All of these things should mean the phones on the market right now will be a whole lot cheaper than they are today.
If you have to get one before then, look for a Droid X, Droid 2, or Droid Incredible. Those are the best ones on Verizon at the moment, depending on what form factor you prefer.

KSL and ebay are the best places to get them used. Craigslist can be hit or miss, but you might want to check there too.

Also, make sure you call Verizon and verify it isn't stolen and can be activated before you pay for it.

I can't wait. Need . to . drop . AT&T.

For clarity, I'm getting the next gen iphone this summer, regardless. I see/have no reason not to. So I need an android device for 6 months for under $200 that won't make me want to kill myself. :)

Does it have to be Verizon? If you're just looking for a cheap placeholder to get you by for a few months, your best (cheapest) bet is to get the LG Optimus V for Virgin Mobile.

It's only $150 band new and Virgin has some pretty cheap plans, with no contracts.

You could port your number to Google Voice and just have it forward everything to whatever phone number you get from Virgin.

Then when the new iPhone comes out you can get the new customer price.

That LG phone isn't that great, but it should get you by for a few months at a dirt cheap price, with no contract, if that is your goal.
