Veterans are coming...time to panic?

I wonder if Mo will change his tune when he realizes no one wants to offer him a starting job.

No, Lindsey mentioned the phrase "Bird rights" FA's. That doesn't mean Foye or Tinsely or Mo or DeMarre. That means they will be trying to negotiate with Al or Paul (or both). That is not overdramatic given the train wreck of an offense we've seen the past two seasons.

Or it could mean that he wants to do a sign-and-trade.

I've said it all along:

Millsap will be back for less than he made last year. That will humble him and he will finally accept his role as first big off the bench.

How hard can chucking 10 air balls to close out every competitive game be? I'm sure the team can find someone to fill that role.

Heat can't afford Mo and I don't think Mo is ready to accept vet minimum salary.

I guess it's up to Mo- does he want to start on a ****ty team for more money or get a title with Lebron for ****ty money
I think he goes for the title.
Then he closes the title game shooting 1/10 in the final 3 minutes of the game 7 of the NBA Finals.

Mo would start for Miami.

I think Foye and DMC are back for sure. I think they will of course talk to Paul and Al, but mostly to see if they can get a sign and trade done for trade exceptions, a la the Boozer trade. Al is not coming back, IMO. I think that's been more than hinted at recently. I don't know about Paul. I don't think he's willing to take a backup role again. So I think they are referring to at least trying to get something in return and not just let them walk for nothing.
- I agree Foye and DMC return. DMC has made it clear he wants to come back, Foye spoke that way from when he signed his contract. I just hope Corbin has learnt from his mistakes of last season, and plays DMC more and Foye less (Foye is a useful player, but not the way Corbin used him).

- Any S&T could also return actual assets rather than a trade exception, if a team wants to add Al or Sap but they're over the cap.

- If Al was coming back, we wouldn't have traded for Gobert. You don't need four guys on the roster who can play centre, even if Gobert is a project.

- I still haven't made up my mind about Millsap, but if he comes back and starts next to Favors, I could deal with that, as long as Kanter still gets plenty of court time, and Evans gets the role of 4th big.

- Facilitating a FA's move to a team of their choosing for the best money possible gives the organisation a good name with players around the league (or more precisely, their agents). That sort of goodwill can pay off down the line.

Jazz philosophy is that you only can win with veterans and that they are better players. You can suck as a player but as long as you have experience, you're the better player and you deserve to start.

But fact is:

Burke > Mo
Burks > Foye
Hayward > Marwin
Favors > Millsap
Kanter > Jefferson.

When was the last time a relatively young team won a championship. This team is at the very least 5 years away from competing for a championship. You need skilled vets to get anywhere in this league.
