Vonleh and Favors Front Court: Would it be Enough Defensively?

Do you think a Favors and Vonleh Front court would be enough down low Defensively?

I think with the two of them there is enough coverage there. He's much better than Kanter anyway as an alternative.

High foul rate? It's pretty comparable to other bigs and is better than Embiid's.

4.1 per 40 compared to Gordon's 3.0 per 40. Vonleh's relative low BBIQ and decision making will make him a target on the defensive end early in his career. He'll struggle to stay on the court.

2 passionless soft talented but not THAT talented bigs manning our frontline? Hmmmm... I'm warming up to the prospect of Vonleh, but there's still a ways to go before I get that excited.

Tell all of us what the foul rate for Embiid is per 40.

One of you must know how to google for yourselves.

I knew you'd give a snide answer It's 5.8!

Based on your idea, Cleveland better not draft him then! Forget all the good things about his game and the fact he's touted as the next Hakeem. Fouls too much!

I think a Favors/Vonleh pairing would be a strength defensively. Not a weakness. So, I'm not really sure why this thread exists.

Don't be a dope and you won't get snide replies.

Embiid has greater perimeter defense and has higher basketball IQ. He's clearly the better defensive prospect. Vonleh is a little slow to react and makes has less awareness defensively. LiabilitIes that won't translate well to the next level. I think teams will attack his flat footedness and he'll be a reach in foul machine.

I killed your argument - even using stats - and you still think you're right. Wow. To show how stupid I think you are I'm putting you on ignore - something I've only ever done for one other Jazzfanz member - heavenharris.

Well stats are for losers bro. Good luck with that.

Embiid has only been playing the game since 2011. I'll give a guy with that size, relative quick feet and good court awareness some slack. He has the potential to cut down on his fouls at the next level. Vonleh doesn't have those natural gifts. He's going to struggle on D imo and doesn't have the same ceiling. But hold on to your stats in ignore land and have fun.

Vonleh will need to improve his positioning on the pick and roll. Most big men coming into the league need similar adjustments. His one on one post D is great. His foot speed may give him trouble with stretch 4s, but his wingspan should help minimize that.

Locke says his foot speed is elite for his size. I get the impression that sometimes we may all assume things. We all do it.

Their playing styles are different

per 40, embiid is at 4.5 blocks (5.8 fouls)

thats a 0.776 b/f ratio

per 40, noah blocks 2.1 shots (4.1 fouls)

thats a 0.511 b/f ratio

Embiid fouls more because he is a more aggressive defender, always going for the block (and has a better b/f ratio), and vonleh stays his ground more (yet still fouls quite a bit).

That is the point
