Voter Suppression and Why The Republicans Love It So Much?

I mean how does "under God" affect things in a practical sense?
So right now, "under God" is in the Pledge of allegiance. There was a drone strike that took place a while back that killed some innocent folk. If "under God" was not in the pledge of allegiance then would that drone strike not have happened? Im curious of an example of how having or not having the words "under God" in the pledge of allegiance would have any effect on literally anything.

Yes. The Pledge was originally written by a Communist and included a Nazi-like Roman Salute. The 'under god' bit was added as a dig at the godless communists as the cold war ramped up, and the addition was strongly opposed by the family of the communist who original wrote the pledge. All of that aside, if nothing is higher than the nation, do atheists see the nation as the ultimate authority?
Um the dude was a christian preacher. I doubt he was "godless". I doubt his "nazi" proclivities, despite nazis not being around for another 30 years, had anything to do with godlessness. You are a spin-master I will give you that.

Nazi like salute…. Nearly 30 years before the Nazi party was even founded?

Edit: LG already addressed that.

It was a Roman salute like the Nazi's instituted, and I never said the guy who wrote the original pledge was godless. Not all communists are godless, but our cold war adversaries prided themselves in being godless communists and the inclusion was a dig at them. No spin needed. It is all history. Pick your source because they should all tell the same story. Nothing I've written is in any way controversial.

Some days I wish I would just stop giving a damn….I’d love to believe I’m worried over nothing. Would my daily life look much different under a “tyranny of the minority”? Much would be unchanged, but seeing things the way these historians see it is so very depressing. And worrisome. I can’t see into the future, but unless this Congress can legislate voting rights reform, I think maybe we just have to get through a fascist phase the hard way. By living under it for a spell….

“This is real, this is serious and it’s frightening,” said Brian Clardy, a Murray State University history professor. “We must build a democratic resistance that amounts to a counter-fascist coup — In short, we must all become ‘antifa,’ or antifascists,” said John Hennen, a Morehead State University history professor emeritus”.

I have good news. You're worried over nothing. The true authoritarians, the Progressives, are losing sway. Last week Pramila Jayapal, chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, called for Biden to usurp the power of the Legislative Branch to enact Build Back Better via executive order. She received push-back from both sides as she should have. We are not an authoritarian country. We are not authoritarian on the political right or the political left. We are not a tyranny of the minority or a tyranny of the majority. We are a Constitutional Republic with enshrined individual rights that seem almost impossible to amend.

As far as the history professors used to cobble together that scare-piece, they are both CRT nuts. When they say we're headed toward fascism and white supremacy, a proper translation for what they're actually saying is that we're not headed toward Marxism, which to them is a bad thing. For sane Democrats it isn't white supremacy that is the worry. There was a poll out recently that showed the GOP now has support in the Hispanic community equal to Democrats, and the level of GOP support is continuing to rise.

Nutty professors are free to spout their theories because we do live in a great country, but if you are worried the nut jobs are able to see the future then I think you're worried over nothing. They are bubble-dwelling crazies who see the thing they want to see.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene said Democrats moving to red states should be temporarily barred from voting.

Seems almost daily, right wingers are coming up with ways to treat their political opponents as second rate citizens. This guy believes that only land owning people should be able to vote.

Democrats may not be perfect. But they’re not looking to disenfranchise millions of voters, overthrow elections, and install authoritarians into office. This is so ****ed up rhetoric.
