Messina first pick, Longabardi otherwise (wonder if we can get him as an assistant or if Messina will bring one of his choices)
No way Lowe comes back so we're in need of at least one assistant and one HC- those would be my realistic picks

What do you guys like about Hoiberg? I don't know much about him. Is he a defensive minded coach or otherwise?

He had a team thay was not very talented and he squeezed everything he could out of them and made a nice run in the ncaa tourney and his team did well in a very tough conference.

It seemed like every game i saw his team play (probably about 10 games only) his team seem to be the smarter, higher bbiq team and that made up for the lack of talent

Fish is on point with his analysis.

For a good comp, I'd look to hornacek. They seem to have the same style. He's an expert communicator. His players pretty much know where to be and what to do at all times.

Actually that is one thing the Jazz may need the first a few years, although we'll get most probably a top 5 player from the draft, we will still be one of those teams that doesn't have a real star player in the NBA. We'll be lucky if we can have an allstar player within a couple years. So it might be the necessity to squeeze every drop of talent from the team to start win make playoffs and gain experience while rebuilding.

I've always liked Hornacek, as a player, as an assistant. As we know now, he's awesome as a head coach too. He'll be always welcomed on the Jazz by me.

60 votes so far and 75% of the board want Messina. Good enough sample size for the forum.

Considering the interest that Longabardi and Stockton are also getting, I think it's fair to write a petition to the Jazz FO and say we want Ettore Messina as the Head Coach of the new Utah Jazz team and John Stockton&Mike Longabardi as the Assistant Coaches. If it's possible keep Jensen and Jones too. I would sign that petition because, combining those names together has the potential to create the most badass coaching staff in the NBA.

DL is in Europe right now, yet there's no report whatever he will talk to Messina.
This would be the time to talk.
If he does not talk to Messina on this trip chances seem good Messina is not a candidate.

Not really, and it might not even get reported if he does.
