Was Hayward worth it?

Nah guys Hayward is a really good player, sorry to say it. Definitely worth the max no question. I think Hayward was probably top 15 last season, just my opinion.

So Stevens and Ainge can recruit for a year, but the Jazz reply to Gordon's public statement about departing and they get fined.

The NBA is a joke.

Yeah. That's *********. The Jazz front office needed to respond publicly after the travesty that was yesterday and showed great restraint and leadership in doing so. Pay the $250 K and tell the NBA to **** off.

Paying him $35 on a new contract wouldn't have been worth it. His 7 years here were solid. No reason to get upset. We have had worse top 10 picks.

**** this...Jazz should punch back. Hire a high powered NY attorney and file a suit against the Celtics/NBA.

The definition of tampering reads as follows.

"Article 35A of the NBA Constitution states that it's a violation of the league's anti-tampering rule for any person affiliated with an NBA team to directly or indirectly (i) entice, induce, or persuade, or attempt to entice, induce or persuade, any player, coach, GM or other person under contract to any other NBA team to enter into negotiations for or relating to that person's services or to negotiate or contract for such services, or (ii) otherwise interfere with the employment relationship between that employee and the other NBA team."

The Constitution also says that potential penalties for tampering include suspension of the offending person, prohibition of the offending team from hiring the person being tampered with, forfeiture of draft picks, and individual and/or team fines of up to $5 million.

A longshot, but so what. That would be funny if Boston is prohibited from signing Hayward or if they have to give up their draft picks...

No i don't think he was, as others have said the Jazz have developed a player to have him poached by another franchise in a bigger market to help them compete for a title, he should be doing that in Utah if he had any class, loyalty or heart.
