Washed Players... It’s Time To Buy Low and Pray

I need to go find the thread where I suggested dealing a few second round picks for Gordon/Tucker. It would be a hilarious read.

Rudy Gay should be on this list. He’s already been called washed by JF. That means he is guaranteed to be a contributor for a playoff team next year.

I was focused on guys under contract... I like Rudy Gay for us a lot... have for a while... I think he’s a value buy but not a buy low of that makes sense. He’s been good the last couple years.

I tried running a search on this. Archie said he was called the white Durant and I said he’d be lucky to be the Latvian Wang Zhizhi.

That said, I did like Wang Zhizhi
Maybe I’m off then. I must have misremembered... the year he was headed into free agency I thought you wanted him.

We need to shift away from fancy stats guys and start going after enforcers/energy players. Guys whose main contribution don't show up on stat sheets.

Like when guys like Bojan/Niang/JC aren't making shots, what are they good for? They aren't chasing after loose balls, getting deflections, setting hard screens, taking charges, boxing out for rebounds, or even attempting to stay in front of their guys/slowing them down.

There was that one time in the Bucks/Nets series where PJ Tucker let KD score on him on five consecutive possessions, that's good for 0steal/0block on stat sheet. But at the same time, he's making KD work to earn those points so on the sixth possession, KD is all gassed and worn out so he had to pass it up to someone else like Bruce Brown. And stuff like that is how you wear out your opponents and grind out Ws in playoffs, where games are being played in quick succession.

Getting more guys who can play fill-in minutes in the rotation is one. Getting enforcers who can help you wear out your opponents is another, Two keys to playoffs success that this Jazz team is missing right now.
