There is a better chance that Alec Burks will be an all star than there is for Wiggins. Remeber, we have a player right now that had tons of hype and was selected number 2 in the draft only to flame out and become a back up SF who had to take a pay cut by accepting the last year of his contract to guarantee getting paid this year. Marvin Williams. The NBA is full of players who had tons of hype that do nothing. Alec on the other hand has shown potential in games and a willingness to improve his game. Why am I talking about Alec right now? Because if we draft a top five player in this coming draft, the team will not be able to afford everyone, and one of our core players will have to go. This isn't baseball, there is a salary cap.
This board is crazy one Jazz win and people are screaming the tank is over. GS wins a game and they are going to get the 23 pick. It is a long season and until April no one really knows where the Jazz will be or GS. Right now GS is a borderline playoff team in the West. The Jazz have won a few road games but they still have one of the worse records in the NBA. I think both the Bucks and Kings won last night so the win by the Jazz was as big because their competitors also won.
Have you been paying attention? The jazz have more than one win and the Jazz team that started the season with the worst record is not the Jazz team playing now.
Dalamon still will not put money where his mouth is....
If this team makes the playoffs in a loaded west then that is damn impressive and it means we already have our guy. remember we are ocmpeting with the warriors, rockets, thunder, spurs, clippers, blazers... Hell there are two teams (denver & Minny) that are at .500 and not in the playoffs. If the Jazz go from 12-25 and 9 games behind the #8 tean to making the playoffs then we have free agency to make our core.
Now I want that draft pick. I want it bad. But this squad making the playoffs would be a damn good thing also.
Jazz built themselves in you big of a hole to make the playoffs. They likely need to end up 44-38 or better. That would mean a 32-13 finish. I don't see that happening. The tank is likely over, but I don't see the Jazz as better than. 500 from here to the end of the season.
This would be the least desirable outcome. Ending up with like the 13th pick and just missing the playoffs.
Least desirable and also possibly the most likely outcome is to miss the playoffs and miss out on a superstar.
I don't understand why some people cant see that having the worst desirable outcome is actually a bad thing.
I would not call it bad but there are clearly superior outcomes. Like winning a free bag of chips (missing playoffs and the 14th pick v. winning a 5 day vacation. Winning a bag of chips is cool and all but why settle when you are one of the leaders for that vacation?
