What's new

We HAVE to make a trade.

Favors shoots a decent percentage from literally one spot on the whole floor when he's wide open. Olynyk is a true stretch player. He's kind of a tweener PF/C, but I think he helps us.

So, he shoots them a lot more for a barely better percentage. How is that a good mark on him?
He's a career 37% shooter who takes quite a few per game. That has earned him a reputation as a guy you don't want to leave open. Teams are perfectly happy to let Favors get off a 3 per game if the trade off is they get to clog the paint and screw up our spacing. Olynyk, if I remember correctly can put the ball on the floor a little bit, and is a much better passer.

He's not nearly the rim protector or rebounder Favors is though.

On the average team I might prefer Favors, on Utah where he'll play significant time next to Gobert I pretty clearly prefer Olynyk.

And I love some Favors, great guy.

Favors is one of those guys who is better for the long haul of a season. During the playoffs, Favors would rarely play if we had Olynyk, spacing, etc. I wish we had both honestly.

What's the odds of Burks wanting this trade 100%. Probably asked Id say after not getting the start against the Pacers. Quin putting in Royce before him.... Alec has been really good this year. Anyway korver is a really good shooter

Don't be surprised when the Jazz make another move. There are quite a few teams struggling that need a change.

^Wizards are going to want a helluva ot more for Beal than Burks and a couple of garbage picks. I imagine their starting discussion would be Mitchell. That's absurd, of course, but Utah doesn't have any lesser assets they'd want. Beal is going to fetch a couple of decent starters and/or a high pick.
