What's new

We seriously need to revisit Burks at the backup PG

So how is that a head scratcher? He plays great D, he is just small so people can shoot over him. You know what a head scratcher is?

I play basketball and I am slightly an undersized PG for the record there are smaller pgs in the NBA that play tenacious d to make up for being shot over but so many people on here have this belief that Neto is so good but he isn't , he is a bench warmer and a scrub. Shelvin was brought here proving that management also thought he couldn't hack it. So tell me about his ppg and his asts stats ? He has dnps in his boxscore for a reason. Trade him the team will be better off

Bummer.

Well I guess I understand the decision but I don't think Exum will ever improve without in game minutes. Oh well.

Players can improve their skills way more outside of games. They amount of time they spend not playing NBA games is way way way more than the time they spend playing NBA games.

Yeah but the stats clearly show we are better with Neto on the court than Mack or Exum. The eye test also confirms the stats IMO. Also, for someone who claims to play basketball you dont seem to get the concept of mental errors and how coaches dont like playing players that make a lot of mental errors.

And it was always going to be the case that the return of Burks was going to lessen the need for Mack's limited ability to create his own shot. It kind of felt like a necessary thing before Burks, but I think Quin realizes that our backup PG just needs to not **** stuff up more than anything else.

Your theory is weaker then your hands on experience I take it. When hill went down we needed contributions from our other pgs but didn't get it. I'm not coming down on Neto to say it's all his fault but for how many of you glorify his game on here you would think he would have contributed more.

My theory is actually a better interpretation of Neto's stats you say he is more efficient I say he sucks

Let me be clear, I think all 3 players "suck", but I'm completely convinced Neto knows how to get out of his own way and let the team succeed. Mack makes a ton of bonehead decisions on the basketball court and can't stay infront of anyone and Exum just doesnt know how to play basketball and can't hit an open 3.

You seem to be hung up on the fact that opposing team's really try to bully Neto and score on him. That is a thing and I get why you focus on it so much. I did too at first. It would bother me that Neto seemed to get score on right away when he checked in and get "exposed". The reality though is the team fares much better defensively with Neto. He pressures the ball better and actually keeps opposing ball-handlers in front of him.

Please don't get me wrong stats are key but it seems as though Neto doesn't fit our style or our team's chemistry. We play long tall lanky bodies out there and it aids us with help defense and such Exum and Mack have bigger bodies and length. I just don't think Neto has it but in the d league he is perfect. Would have liked to see Neto produce like Cotton did for us.

Yeah, I'm sorry but you are providing no compelling argument for Mack or Exum. What does our team do better with them in the game? Are Mack's constant turnovers and mental lapses defensively worth someone who can play better post defense against PGs? Are Exum's few (very few as of late) bright moments worth the massive amounts of disrespect the opposing team pays to his shot or his ability to go left?

Let me put it in laymen's terms so both our brains don't burst. I think we are sort of saying the same thing just differently. Behind Hill we have a back up PG issue and their names are Mack, Neto and Exum. Though I see and know Mack has more skill in talent his game is more careless then Neto. Neto is safer but doesn't produce . Exum well, here is hoping we didn't waste such a high pick.

So, back to the original point that you started arguing me about: You agree Neto makes less mistakes?
