What's new

Welcome to Election Day 2024,

Most Labor parties have grown out of and are supported by trade unions, what's union density in the US? 7 or 8 percent?
I'm in a union

Every single one of those is funded from state and local taxes, not federal.
Federal parks and campgrounds on federal land? i'll be damned.

Federal public lands consist of over 250 million acres of national parks, wildlife refuges, conservation areas, wilderness areas, and other public lands.

Today these lands are primarily managed by bureaus of the Department of the Interior (DOI) and the Department of Agriculture.

(Literally) holding up Biden for as long as they did was dumb af. Harris not doing anything to distance herself from a very unpopular president was dumb af.

Needed a primary. Needed more self awareness from the Dems. I am morbidly curious about what happens now, hopefully it ends up being much more boring than I fear. Democratic primaries for 2028 will be very interesting/depressing, who tf is out there?

Someone needs to do the populist, anti party thing to the Dems that Trump did to the GOP. The democratic party is an embarrassment.
The Republicans will **** it up, like every party does, people will want something new and different. Rinse/repeat (hopefully I guess)

Yeah and the Dems will use the R **** ups to just do the same **** they always do: offer the bare minimum and barely ****ing win. We live in a dying empire.

Hopefully a Labor Party emerges and replaces them.
Didn't you see the vote count? That happened. The party supported by labor replaced the Democrats. The 2024 Republicans are the American Labor Party, endorsed by the Teamsters and with all of the protectionist baggage Labor Parties around the world love. The only thing missing is the connection to socialism, which America is smart enough to know is a retarded ideology that never works.

The Teamsters famously did not endorse either candidate. Neither party sufficiently represents labor interests.

Wait, you don't think that trump vilifies his opponent? Lolololololololmao.
That is the funniest comment I have ever seen.
He started calling his opponents wife ugly way back in 2016 (his Republican primary opponent)
Lock her up?
Been calling Kamala every name in the book. Scum, garbage etc. ever heard his enemy within quote? Sleepy Joe, comrade Kamala, crazy Bernie, little Marco, crooked Hilary, Ron DeSanctimonious, Ditzy Davos, Birdbrain (Nikki Haley), Gavin newscum, crazy Nancy, tampon tim, pocahantas. To name a few.

trump vilifying his opposition is kinda his thing. Only people he doesn't vilify are the leaders of our enemies.

I think you are missing the point.

Trump at least had some ideas he was pitching to potential swing voters (I disagree with most of them, specifically increased tariffs). She had NO message, aside from pointing out how bad Trump is. That doesn't resonate with people. When she decided to pitch an idea, she just stole what Trump was selling (no tax on tips). It was pathetic.

The left’s entire campaign was Trump = bad instead of actually talking about policy and what they’re going to do to fix our problems.
The problem was the left selected an unelectable candidate with no real platform. If they had selected someone remotely competent they would have had a much better chance. But we knew all along that "never-Trump" as a platform was weak and limited. The hope was that enough people would see through his ******** and recognize the evil within and vote for the lesser evil. But he's a great demagogue and certainly brainwashed enough people to garner the win.

American elections are 100% vibe based.

I think we havent fully realized how strong the right wing has gotten online. We dont think of online being real life, but for right wingers it is. They live online now. They are great at appealing to their base.

Very true and its become the focal point for them radicalising people. The pandemic was a great example of that, I know people that have joined far right groups from heading down the anti vax vortex.

edit

The movie about Brexit with Sherlock Holmes in it, goes on about how the right are using tech to target and message people online. they're miles ahead.

He will have the house and senate and hopefully follows through with his no tax for tips or overtime that will put more money in working class citizens pockets which allows them to buy stuff.
I fully support that move, and I certainly hope he raises corporate taxes to offset the revenue loss from that move. We have already cut corporate taxes and tax on the rich so far down that we run a permanent budget deficit. Something has to be done to offset these cuts. You can't cut taxes forever and expect to be able to run the government. That's highly irresponsible and reckless. I hope enough people in Congress and the Senate recognize this and promote responsible tax increases to offset the lost tax revenue.

The point you made was that she vilifies her opponent and voters don't like that.
So the voters elected the dude who vilifies everything and everyone non stop making your point moot

Maybe you should have said Harris doesn't talk about policy enough and voters dont like that because it's obvious that voters have no problem with vilifying people and things.
