Your hyperbole is amusing, but nobody is saying to fill the team with malcontents.

Oh, and BTW, the Fakers took on some dude who went by the name of Tru Warier and who, after joining the team, went on to play some important D and even make some clutch shots in the playoffs.

And Boston took on an aging whiner in 'Sheed Wallace, who was a help when Perkins got punked but was a bit too slow to be a full replacement.

I just wish that Sloan and the Jazz had a track record of being able to take on behavioral rejects and make them happy producers.
(They've done great with draft rejects, but this shows more drafting/signing acumen than coaching/development skill.)

Utah's history suggests more of the opposite (Giricek, Arroyo, etc.). These aren't cornerstone players; but Artest probably wasn't, either.

You are not seriously comparing Ron Artest and Sheed to Sean Williams are you?
 
So people are openly advocating signing a player who was not good enough to keep for the worst team in the league. Seriously?

I am comparing them in the context of all of them having had behavior troubles on previous teams--not necessarily on skill level.

A legit (backup) defensive big would be a huge help for the Jazz, and the need for one has been widely known for years.
Even with Fesenko already on the roster << rolleyes >>.

As I've stated before, I don't recall many players of questionable character that Utah has been able to integrate (think Robert Whaley or even a Hoffa Araujo (with his questionable character simply being too aggressive sometimes and probably not understanding the system very well)), but if a player was already "reformed" and committed to playing and comforming before joining the roster, I think that it's OK. Unfortunately I don't recall any or many examples of this with the Jazz, either :(.

Depends on who else is available. And I would say that taking a flier on a Sean Williams is no worse than nabbing a random D-Leaguer or player who has missed a half a season or more due to injury or family issues or whatever. Would I want Williams over Augustine? Probably--except that bringing in another Illini player might make Deron happy (not that that's the end-all and be-all of any team transaction). In terms of whom to bring in, it's all about the pre-signing evaluation and analysis.

I don't see any evidence that Williams has turned things around, and he's been promising a "rebound" since 2008. But for the 12th or 13th roster spot, I'd trade the potential downside of Sean Williams for the potential upside that he could be a real contributor. It'd be great if Utah could get both Fes and Williams to come back. Next year, Utah might want a cheap replacement for AK (or at least his defense), and if Williams panned out, maybe he could be that guy. He was cited as being able to defend Michael Beasley well; maybe he can do the same for some of the longer and or quicker forwards, also.
