What could Jazz want/get for Gobert?

If Jazz were offered Chase Budinger, Ryan Kelly and a 2015 1st rounder for Jeremy Evans/Rudy Gobert?

I might do that. If the 1st is unprotected, I really might do that.

That being said, there is no way in hell that gets offered for Yogurt Gobert.

Two "nice" players for a potential IMPACT player. No way. Maybe I'm too high on Rudy, or just too high in general, but Gobert can be a top-5 defensive big. He can change games with his presence inside. Neither Budinger nor Kelly can do that. Can Rudy be that player right now? No, he's not ready to be a starter yet. He still has a lot of work to do. But just based on his progression from last SL to this one, we can certainly see that potential and the (ok, I'll say it) HUNGER to get there.

No way would I trade Gobert...not unless Favors and Kanter were both putting up all-star numbers and the trade netted an all-star in return.

You wouldn't trade Gobert for next year's unprotected first, from a team that sucked anyways and just lost Kevin Love?

And, please, don't give me lip service about Wiggins. How did OKC do their first year with Durrant? Rose? Wall? Other than LeBron, has any #1 pick come in recently and taken their team from crappy to amazing? Has any team had a huge jump in wins due to the #1 pick?

Minnesota was 40-42. They did not get better for next year. I'd give up Gobert for their unprotected first, knowing that gives me two shots at the #1 pick and a great shot at two top 10 picks next year.

That being said, Minnesota doesn't give up that much for Gobert. He isn't good enough.

Considering Budinger and Kelly play for two different teams, that trade would be pretty difficult to accomplish.

Anyone here still think we should seriously entertain trading Gobert? I believe he has the potential to be the best player from the 2013 draft by next season.

Yep. He matched up really well with the Gasol brothers and out hustled them all night.

He is still pretty raw defensively though, but I think he's DeAndre Jordan level in terms of talent already - the sky's the limit!!!

No way you can trade him. Too rare of a physical specimen, not only his measurables, but also his love of the game and his love to play defense. You won't ever have to give Gobert 15 touches a game (like AK) to appease him.

If we end up signing Kanter long-term, we pretty much have to trade Gobert at some point to get value back.

Kanter or Gobert have to go, both can't stay on future contracts. Too much money to pay to a 3 big rotation.

I'll take a bow for declaring him pretty much untouchable with my post back on 8/18.
Gobert can be a dominant defender inside. Favors is nice, but not a real force on either end. IMO, Jazz probably have three core players in Exum, Hood and Gobert. All three of those guys have elite skills; they just need to develop. Kanter and Burks COULD join those three. As for Hayward, I think he's just too expensive for what he brings. In 3 years, he'll want $20M+/per year. Just not worth it.

The task now is to surround Gobert with great shooters. That's one reason I'm so high on Hood. Now get a stretch-4 and a "making" guard. Favors will be expendable when his contract expires if he doesn't develop a mid-range game.

Favors' contract expires just as Gobert will come off his rookie deal, so the choice could very well be between Rudy and Derrick. I think Kanter will be shown the door after this season - maybe even a deadline deal...unless he shows he can defend and stretch the floor. Gobert is going to be the starting center within 3 years. Book it!

We could get Lebron James nuff said...

I don't think there is any way that the FO settles for LeBron to give up Gobert. The Cavs would have to throw in at least 2 1sts to sweeten the deal, otherwise no way do we part with Gobert.
