Wow, never saw this thread when it came out. Guess because it was summer I wasn't going to the board much -- no wonder people complained when I said few people were that high on him.
What are the odds you'd post right after a one brow comment? Did you call his work and ask him what threads he'd been posting in lately or something?

I don't care if some of it is calculated media savvy, it can't all be that. He is easily the most likable Jazz player ever in terms of how talented he is. Like it's not really a contest. Maybe Hornacek, but I'll be stunned if Mitchell doesn't have a much better career than Hornacek did (and his career wasn't shabby).

Which is why I'll be furious if the Jazz don't park a Brinks truck to his door step the first opportunity they get.
For the first part, yeah. Calculated? Probably some, but he wouldn’t have to pour it on like he has to accomplish what the goal is. Everyone’s has been in love with the dude for a while now. He really doesn’t have to do half of the things he’s done here in this community that he’s went out of his way to do to get that Brinks truck, or get love from fans here. His play and just general work ethic would suffice. Some of the things he’s done have been good PR and some of the things he’s done, he’s done willingly.

I realize he’s a second year player and all but he’s the face of the franchise, approaching some big money in a couple years, on the cusp of being a super star, and everyone loves him and he knows it and yet not much has changed in a year. Today he promised he would attend a boys and girls basketball game at a local high school during that Q&A he did with Ekpe today. He’s so damn perfect every time you see something new about him it always makes you feel like he’s too good to be true.

As for the money part......he’ll get it there’s no doubt. The Jazz will give him a max contract extension the second they get the chance. As much of a brinks truck as he’ll get, he’s also helping the franchise in a lot of ways in selling murchandise, tickets, and national broadcast games. At this point the Jazz are heavily indebted to the kid and he will get his money he certainly deserves. I hope the Jazz give him the super-max some day. That will mean everything went amazingly well for everyone.

It’s a constant thing of trying to have realistic expectations while also seeing every single attribute of a superstar in the league.

I voted superstar. Still feel the same way now. I dont think he will be a generational talent/transcendent star but how are defining that? Lebron and jordan obviously. Who else? Kobe? magic, bird, wilt? Is malone or stockton a generational talent/transcendent star?
I dont think DM will be a lebron/jordan guy but I think he could achieve a Karl Malone peak. (though doubt he can get the career stats due to the longevity and health that malone had)
