I don't get people who deactivated an account to sign up on a new one. Why don't you just ask for the name to be changed? It'll have exactly the same result.

It really puzzled me.

Not exactly the same result. If you just change your name your old posts will show the new name. If you want a fresh start or to be anon you need a new acct.

Wait, he asked for his acct to be deactivated THEN tried to start a new acct? Seems like he did things right. Why ban his new acct when his old account was voluntarily deactivated. Obv he wants to use the new acct.

I thought the same thing. I think it's because the old account was just deactivated, but he could have gone back in and reactivated it himself. If he emails Jason and tells him he's going to start a new account, the old one could be deleted from the system. It's an admin/mod issue that pops up (basically looking like an alt).

After last years election, and all of the drama that my posts on JF caused, I asked Jason if he could delete all of my old content and let me start fresh. As you can see, that didn't happen. As I understand it, it's not as easy as I thought it would be -- or Jason really does hate me that bad. He was nice enough to change my name for me, but anyone with 30 seconds to spare will be able to figure it out. Ah well.

Are you saying you can change your name yourself without asking for Admin to do it? I wouldn't mind changing mine...
 
He still appears on the users currently active lists occasionally. We need more BYU fans around these parts, not less. Especially because Brandon Davies is about to be a Utah Jazz man. He is going to need defenders.

I asked Jason to change my name after you told me I had to do that. He did it a couple weeks later. pretty easy. You should change yours to NicholasSouthernWhiteMale
