What I want Hayward to do

Almost all of us want to Hayward to stay. But there are some things he isn't doing that I wish he would do(assuming he wants to stay)-

1) Be verbally committed to the Utah Jazz. I felt like he has had the opportunity to say "I want to stay" or even "I see myself staying here". He hasn't said anything promising at all. This is why I am worried. George Hill has been more verbally committed to the Jazz(even if he wants a big pay day).

2) Recruit If all we do is resign Hayward, Hill and Ingles, that's great. But we have a ceiling with that team. We aren't beating the Warriors. But by spending so much time/energy figuring out the Hayward situation we haven't been able to recruit at this off season. If he really wanted Utah to win, he could let everyone know he is staying and spend time trying to recruit people.

I want him to sign a 5-year veteran minimum with the Jazz with team option for last year, move into my neighborhood and let me borrow his truck.

What I would like to see Hayward and every All Star caliber player do is have the guts and fortitude to build where they are and work with their front office to build a champion instead of being groupies and counting on others to get them a ring. And yes, LeBron did start it. The Super Team thing is going to kill the league if it continues.

Hayward wants to see what other teams have to offer. It's selfish to say he should just blindly sign to Utah without exploring his options fully so he knows he is making the best decision for his overall happiness.

So I don't want to sound like a dick, but I don't know Hayward personally, and I only care about what he does in a jazz uniform so I really don't have a problem being selfish.

We need to wow Hayward before or on Thursday. Need to send a message of intent. Signing a couple good vets is not enough. We need more and #24 and #30 ain't gonna do it.

You're DL and Hayward bluntly asks "how do we beat GS in the next 4 years I'm here. You say....

Yeah, empathy is for suckers, right?

Thinking about what Paul George did, he did a GREAT thing, telling the Pacers he's leaving, so they can at least get something back for him.

Hayward keeping quiet is really hurting the Jazz right now (unless he returns).

It will be tough, but if you and Rudy can continue to progress your games like you have every year under Quin, then we have a chance. I will find the talent that compliments the team, reload talent yearly through the draft, and put you in a position to be a yearly all-star and compete. It won't be easy, but if you can pull it off you will be a legend. While we will never be the favorite (no team can be created that will be, let's be honest), I guarantee we will be a consistent top 4 team in the West.

Hayward is an athletic, good looking young man who is already a college graduate, a multi-millionaire and he has all his hair. He is facing a choice to make millions here or there depending on where his young wife wants to be.

I have no context to empathize, just like he could not empathize with me.

What I do know is he shows up on my tv about 80 times a year during the drab winter months and I'd rather watch the jazz win than lose.

Are you a Laker ran, Ingram is not going to get us closer to beating GS and only opens opportunity for the Lakers to bring in a super team.
I hate the Lakers. And those cocky sob's think LBJ is coming. Lets feed on their cockiness. Lets be opportunistic.

Old Paul, older PG and older LBJ might not beat GS anyway. We arent either for a few years. Screw the Lakers while they think they can assemble a super team.

Do you know what empathy is? I'm not asking you to feel sorry for him. Its simply asking you to put yourself in his shoes.

If you are a NBA star who wants to win, why would you not want to fully explore your options? Teams will fly him out and wine and dine him to give him pitches. If you were so great at your job would you just flat out reject everyone else and pledge undying loyalty to your current employer?

The empathy is, if you are a person you want as much information as possible to make the decision that is best for you. To say Hayward should give that up to appease everyone else is ludicrous.

i never said I want him to please everyone else, I only want him to please me. That was the subject of the thread, "What do you want Hayward to do", well for my enjoyment I want him to sign with the Jazz.

Since signing with the jazz is the only suitable outcome all the wining and dining is only a waste of my time.

Not necessarily. Don't get me wrong a huge move for a star player before free agency would be AMAZING. But if it doesn't happen it doesn't mean Hayward won't stay.
