What if Hayward doesn't re-sign?

I hate thinking about it. But what if Hayward decides to play elsewhere? What do the jazz do? Blow up the team and rebuild again? What do you guys think?

Invest the $30/yr salary to research and development of age-reversing potions that will bring back Karl and John.

Stockton / Hill
Hood / Burks
Johnson / Ingles
Karl / Bolomboy
Gobert / Favors

If there's any left over then Memo is coming back, too.

FTW

Hayward aint leaving... he, his Camry, and Olive Garden habit are all about the money, and we can pay him an *** ton.

I've been listening to different celtics podcasts
And they feel they have a chance

I think Hayward will go where he has the best
Chance to win a title. Even if that means
Leaving money on the table

in all seriousness, it's definitely possible. I think he's in a good place where hes "the man", can make the most money, and we are winning as well. How the playoffs play out could be a big deal.

I dunno I think after this year we're officially a 'destination' for FAs now too.

So to be honest, if we do lose Gordon I think the FO can go out and get us some decent FA this year.

I think if hayward leaves and we stay healthy next year we will make the playoffs still as a 7 or 8 seed.
44 wins or so.

Why would he leave?

He wants to go somewhere where he can win... Utah jazz seem like best option there. I mean he isn't going to the Warriors or Cavaliers, so where does he have some sure thing lined up to get a championship? Playing alongside Rudy is his best chance to compete.

He wants to get paid... done. No one can pay him more and we will pay him MAX/MAX=MAX.

I do question if that is why they haven't extended g.hill. If they lose Hayward are they planning on blowing it up? Going to be a crazy off season if he signs elsewhere.

Hayward is the type of person that would never in a million years turn down the 5 year max.

Its obviously a possibility that he leaves, but really with how he has played this year, how our team has played, our record despite our injuries...I doubt he leaves. This is the best team he has been on since he came in the NBA and leaving could really mess up chances for winning.
Making the all star game I think will make a huge impact for him staying, proving he can be a star here in a small market

Can't we pay him the same per year but can give him a fifth year. He's not going to qualify as a designated veteran.

Ehh, he could easily make All-NBA 3rd team if he has a strong 2nd half and the Jazz finish top 4 in the West.

I thought Hill said that he was going to wait until Hayward made a decision before he would.

Last year the 6 All-NBA forwards were James/Leonard/Durant/Green/Aldridge/George

Hayward is for sure having a better year than Aldridge and George, and you could argue over Green too if Hayward can get Utah to a 1st round homecourt advantage while putting up stats.

There are dudes like Giannis who really busted out this year, but he isnt going to be on a playoff team, so he will get votes against him for that. Every player on the All-NBA teams last year where on playoff teams.

So if you hold the same top 4 from last year and cut out George/Aldridge, it's a 3 man race for the last two spots between George/Butler/Hayward and Hayward will likely have the best record and 2nd best raw stats among those 3.

*Edit* Cousins made All-NBA 2nd team last year, only non-playoff person to do so.

If Utah finishes the 2nd half of the season strong and Hayward plays like he has been then he will make the 3rd team.

Well I hope he does. Our chances of keeping him probably go from around 60% to 95% if he does.
Doubtful he gets a vote from Bill Simmons though.
