What if we traded Andrei Kirilenko for Boris Diaw last offseason?

Should we have pulled the trigger, or was it a rip-off? Do you think it would have had any sort of different effect? Would we have made the playoffs? Would we have traded Deron? Would we be better, worse? I've always thought of him as a player that would excel in the Flex-Offense, seeing as hes one of the most passive SF/PFs in the NBA, similarily to Kirilenko.

ESPN: The trade would send the trade-demanding Anthony to New Jersey; with Kirilenko, Nets rookie Derrick Favors and multiple first-round picks going to Denver; N.J.'s Devin Harris heading to Charlotte; and Utah receiving Diaw, Ross and luxury-tax relief. Multiple reports also listed New Jersey's Jarvis Hayes and Charlotte's DJ Augustin as being potential pieces in the deal.

Discuss.

Diaw is a fat lazy version of Millsap with better passing. Having Deron might have gotten us into the 8th spot in the playoffs. But that doesn't help us become a contender again. I like the way things turned out a lot better.

I prefer Favors on the Jazz to Favors on the Nuggets... strongly. In retrospect I'm even happier the Jazz didn't do this trade than I was that they didn't do it at the time. Things worked out much better!

Diaw blows. I am not a fan of AK's, but Diaw and his contract are pure garbage.

And yes, this also means that the options for the Jazz with Deron had the situation still gone south (it would've been worse with Diaw) would've been limited. But then again, maybe that means the Jazz get Eric Gordon, Kaman, and Minnesota's unprotected 2012 for Deron instead.

If I had to choose between:

1.) Chris Kaman, Eric Gordon, and a top 5 2012 pick.

or

2.) Devin Harris, Derrick Favors, Enes Kanter, and a top 10 2012 pick.

I'd go with option #2.

That's actually a pretty hard choice. It's not a top 10 2012 pick necessarily. It's at best the 8th pick or lower, or may not even have it.

It is a hard choice. But the way I look at it, Harris and Kaman cancel each other out; Favors and the top 5 pick cancel each other out; but Kanter, plus a pretty good shot at a top 10 pick in the 2012 draft > Gordon. Kanter and the GS pick each have the potential to be every bit as good as Gordon.

Obviously this is all just my opinion on a choice that was probably never available in the first place, but it is fun to discuss. I guess my main point is that we got as good a deal for Williams as possible, even if it wasn't initially thought to be by many fans.

Must admit, I was a little disappointed AK wasn't traded. I wasn't thrilled with the proposal, but I thought KOC and Greg would do it because it would have saved the Millers a ton of money. However, looking back, we wouldn't have received the same package for Deron. NJ would have made their big deal, so there probably would have been a Gallinari and Chandler proposal from New York, or the Jazz may have held on to Deron for the season.

And who knows what the trade would have done to team chemistry. A happier Deron? The same bad attiude? Sloan staying? No change?

It appears it all worked out for the best, Miller's pocket book notwithstanding. AK's salary is now completely off the books and the rebuilding process is being done the right way, with some good prospects in the pipeline. A famous saying is that sometimes the best deals are the ones you don't make. I think that was the case with the AK/Diaw talks.

Or would it of been felton, gallenari, chandler, Anthony Randolph. For swill?

Maybe

Steph curry, e udrich, David Lee, d.Wright for dwill?

I was following you until here...kanter and some unknown pick for Eric Gordon is a steal for whomever gets Gordon any day of the week. Gordon is a player who has gotten better each year and if not for an injury would have been an all star. Sure he is undersized, but he is one of the most dynamic players in the league.

Dalamon, holy ****, you seem nice enough but this thread is ****ing God awful. I say that as constructive criticism. Seriously, never start another pointless, what if Tom Selleck had played Indy in Raiders of the Lost Ark threads. ****ing pure refuse.
