Don't use a closed fist except for a hammer strike. I prefer palm strikes, chops and finger gouges. That way your hands are not marked up with blood and bruises.

This. The worst knuckle fight I ever got in was in 9th grade. When we were done his teeth had broken the skin on my knuckles in several places. I still have the scars to this day. That being said he got a couple of pops in and the inside of my one cheek was like hamburger. It's amazing how much damage one punch can do. It took me 2 weeks before I could eat anything I wanted again.

Even when you win, fighting hurts.

When I was in about 7th grade I got in a fight and got my *** kicked. My dad talked to me that night and said "I don't want you to fight, but if you do, you'd better win. That means win at all costs. Kick him in the nuts, poke his eyes out. Do what it takes." That was actually the last fight I got in with someone other than my brother.

thats what I teach to my students without martial arts background.
but personally since i also do boxing and thaiboxing. I myself use Fists named "***" en "get sum".(okay the naming part is obviously a joke.
but yeah with palm strikes have more advantages then disadvantages for people who dont have a striking martial arts background

If y'all youtube' "Ninja Street Brawl" I think Dutch is the white guy in the fight. Would post, but it's laced with background profanity. Basically it's an average looking white guy fighting a latino looking thug. The white guy goes into some martial arts stance and everyone laughs at him. He then ninja dodges like 10 punches and knocks the guy out with one hit.

lol trouble is i aint white.
My skin color is more latino, but dont look like latino

I find it funny how everyone is supremely confident. Or most anyway. Jazz fans aren't only delusional as basketball fans. Though I guess the question was about confidence.

I try to avoid fighting especially as I've grow older. However, I wouldn't have a problem fighting if someone tried to hurt my kids. I am a pretty normal guy but I have a little crazy in me so I might get my *** kicked but I am certain I wouldn't go down without a fight. I was being bullied in eight grade by some dude who was bigger than I was. I put up with it for about six months (yea I was afraid of the guy)until one day he tried to take my favorite piece of cake during lunch. I shoved it in his face and went "Ralphie" on him (The Christmas Story).

Next summer I went from 5' 5" to 6'2" and when I saw the kid he ran the other way. He never bothered me again. Now I tell my kids you can never know how tough a guy is by their size so be nice and try to get along which isn't always easy in a world of ********. I don't know how I would do and don't spend my time trying to prove myself. If I had to pick a number it would be a seven.

I was a Mormon in the south in the 90's. I know all about fighting unfortunatly. As I grew up and matured I have learned to find a way out of the fight if possible.

I can safely call BS on that. Some of them sure but not all.

sure not all there are exceptions but most guys who have been training for 6+ months(i baited myself into saying all, which was kinda a hyperboll) have the confidence that they could take on anderson silva(hyperbole ofcourse).
