What kind of player can Gobert be?

So strange that people think comparing two players means that i think they are equals.

Watching college bball i always hear announcers compare 19 year old kids to legendary hall of famers. (Embiid and olijuwan comp for example)

Dont see what the big deal is really.

Its not like im comparing gobert to jj reddick or kyle lowry or somebody without similarities

I don't think Gobert will ever possess Eaton's strength, and body mass.

Not bad but due to the sentence i quoted i think chandler is more likely.

I cant see him becoming super strong like eaton but i could see him getting as strong as chandler and being able to alot of the things chandler can do

We're really comparing Gobert to Noah and Chandler in this thread?

At some point in their careers, Noah and Chandler were top centers in the NBA. I should add that I think Noah currently is one of the top centers in the league…one of the top players overall.

I would be shocked if Gobert was anything close to those guys.

Agree. Both Noah and Chandler are quicker athletic C's then Gobert. Gobert relies more on length then quickness and isn't very fluid in his movements more of a space eater.

Even if he never becomes much of a factor on offense, he could become a good enough defender and energy guy that certainly makes him a starting caliber center.

Right now, I still have hope that Favors and Kanter can learn to play together and have Gobert come off the bench. He could be a nasty 3rd big. Second units would have a really hard time scoring on this guy if he ever puts his defensive potential together.

I would be thrilled if he could be the next Mark Eaton, Mark Eaton lite that is. Like Eaton, Gobert has little to no offense. Gobert might have a slight edge in athletic ability, but not by much. The thing Eaton has over Gobert is a massive presence in post defense and being a lane clogged with his length and girth. I don't think Gobert will ever possess Eaton's strength, and body mass.

His presence does seem to bother players though. He is definitely disruptive, he will probably be a decent shot blocker, he should get plenty of boards/putbacks, and he should be cheap for what we get. He will never be a starter but I'm high on Rudy off the bench.

I dont understand your vague question.

I think you are asking what things gobert might be able to do that is similar to what chandler has done in his career.

I think if he gets a bit stronger he should be able to be a defensive anchor and block lots of shots and alter even more. He should be able to score on putbacks and alleyoops after setting picks and rolling to the hoop. He should be able to set good solid screens to free teammates up for shots.
Basically all the things chandler can do

Chandler is a 9 point and 9 rebound type of player that plays GREAT defense.

I dont think that is impossible for rudy to achieve if he keeps working hard in the weight room and studies film and remains coachable and a hard worker

IMHO I think Rudy has the potential to be a better defensive player than either of them. Why the f... hasn't Ty given him more opportunities? Geezus, what is wrong with the FO? Give the guy minutes and let him develop.
