What next moves do you WANT to see?

The Jazz held tight in the draft and ended up with a solid haul of Williams, Collier and Filipowski.

They stayed relatively conservative during free agency (Eubanks & Juzang) and left themselves the flexibility to renegotiate and extend Lauri Markkanen.

August 7th is here, and Lauri has just signed the largest contract in Utah Jazz history. . . cementing himself (at least for this year) as the team’s undeniable franchise player.

I don’t care if you are “tank” or “anti-tank”, what are the next moves you really want to see the Jazz follow up the extension with?

I would love to see this

By playing the young guys heavy and often.
How do you get to that point? Jazz still have 3 vets (Sexton, Clarkson and Collins) plus Kessler - who likely impact winning too much to bottom out.

Any realistic trades that you want to see to get there? Jazz probably can’t outright sit guys like Sexton and Keller, so what moves can the team make to facilitate using the young players heavily instead?

Ingram. Then wait for another big move, maybe half way through next season. He could really work well next to Lauri and make a jump in his game.

We have no chance at being bottom 7 this year where the roster stands.

If we really want to commit trade away vets now and take a giant gamble on hitting it big in the lottery. I'm okay with that, but do it now.

My preference is not tanking.

Start Kessler at center.

Bring Sexton and Clarkson off the bench.

Collin’s won’t do much to help us win.

What would you like to see the team trade to get him? Personally, I’d prefer to see them trade Collins and a future protected pick (similar to the deal Brooklyn made with the Jazz for Royce O’Neale) to get him. I know a lot are ready to move on from Kessler, but I’d prefer to keep him.

If the plan is to tank then ship Sexton out before the season starts, which forces you to run Key+Collier combo more. Thats the only option for solid tank that remains.

The real hard tank died when Lauri was extended.
Is there a market for Sexton? If so that’s the highest priority right now.

Do what it takes to get rid of collins and clarkson. Attach picks to go with them if you must.

Go as young as possible with the rotation and play lots of guys lots of minutes and no one over 30 per game. Limit Lauris minutes (less than 30 per game). He already got paid.

Tank hard AF.

I think Sexton and Collins off the bench bring a lot more value than you give them credit for. Sexton is a winning player imo. If he and Markkanen are both healthy and playing, the Jazz give their pick to the Thunder this year.

I'd never attach picks to get rid of a JC, but I wouldn't be opposed to trading them either. I'm thinking Pelicans want to make a trade with Portland, perhaps there's a way to get in there somehow? I was also warming to the idea of JCx2 for Lavine. I hope we're not tanking in any case, watching tanking seasons suck.

The Jazz have to learn their hard lessons. There’s no way they should attach any picks to Collins/Clarkson to move them. Better moves are bound to be out there and they should prioritize those. Trading Derrick Favors like that screwed this team hard. Jazz should be hoarding assets, not dumping them.

The scary thing with Ingram is now that you took Lauri off the market I think he's the best UFA next year. I bet the Spurs go after him

I definitely don't want to try and make trades to get better right away. It would be terrible strategy to start building around Lauri now instead of when we had an off season. If they were committed to building a good team around Lauri, now would be the worst time to do it.

As for what I want for them to do, it might just be nothing at this point. Sexton/Kessler are open to be traded and I might take a subpar-ish deal to tank more. I would not dump assets to get rid of Clarkson/Collins nor do I think there are many options for that anyways.

If we are going to Tank have the two undrafted rookies on the Summer League roster make the team and play some minutes and played the rooks and second year guys a lot. If Ainge and company don't want to tank sign a couple of free agents such as Markelle Fultz, Troy Brown Jr or Justin Jackson and put the hammer down.

If you went for Ingram, would you also expect the team to extend him? If so, at what number?

I’m thinking there’s a not-zero possibility that Ingram is the next target domino for DA, and I don’t think they trade for him as a rental if they go that route.

If you aren’t tanking, I think you do Collins, Sensabaugh and draft assets for Ingram - keeping Sexton and Kessler for your rotation - at least for this year.

If you are tanking, I think you expand the deal into Sexton, Collins and Clarkson for Ingram and McCollum. Extend Ingram and then look to trade McCollum next year as an expiring, while prioritizing the 1st and 2nd year players in the rotation right now.
