What's new

What's really wrong with the Jazz and the entire NBA!

I would probably take any of those guys like iverson or artest if I had a coach to keep them in check. But they didn't for the most part. I guess that's the problem. It was a players league a little bit too much for a few years. I think discipline has returned somewhat now though.
C'mon, isn't it fun to see which superstar will get his coach fired first. Or see which group of stars can win in a head-to-head showdown with the team owner(s)? And the three-ring circus is led by a man who thinks he's second in power to only the Almighty (although Roger Goodell might take issue with that). The only thing missing is to rescind the silly 19-yr old clause. High school students can work at McDonald's or any retail store. So why can't a student like Seventh Woods be able to travel and play weekend games for the Bobcats? Or any other teenager play for his local team as long as his "shift" ends by 10:00 PM? Oh yeah, and being "forced" to play for a specific team for your first few years? Why hasn't that been challenged in court. The rest of us can apply for a job anywhere we want and a company can pay us whatever they choose. Players and NBA teams should fall under the same labor laws as the rest of the country.

Man, the three point line really killed basketball. It was such a team game until the 3 pt line created a bunch of chuckers. Those guys just want to see who can shoot it further out and still make it. No team attitude at all...And that shot clock?!? Who in the world would want to limit offensive genius to 24 seconds? Everyone is running around now like their heads have been cut off. No flow, no plays, all intricacy has been stolen from the game. And don't get me started on this so called "slam dunk"...

....good points! Don't know that the 3 point shot was the beginning of the end....came much sooner than that! The uncalled basketball violations of palming and traveling have more to do with the downfall of today's NBA. When you give the offensive player that much of an advantage, why pass the ball and work for an open shot? Of course, when that 24 second clock is down to 5 seconds you have to do something....and the old Jazz did! They made one more pass!!!

I think that were we back in the '90s, you'd be talking about how great basketball was in the '60s.

...was nothing wrong with basketball in the 60's! Those Chamberlin vs. Russell tilts, West vs Oscar Robertson all battling each other within the TEAM concept of the game were great to watch!
