Is French Connection 2 any good? I'm gonna check that out soonish.
Nah its the poor relation to the first. Think the original won the best movie Oscar. if you're getting into old films watch Chinatown by Polanski

pgab,
How did you get your hands on M? Always wanted to see it.
If you've never seen it, I highly recommend The Third Man. Old Welles movie. So effing good.

Figured as much and noted. I've seen a handful of Polanski flicks Chinatown included, I like his style and the subject matter he seems to like to cover...
Repulsion, The Pianist.. I really like the Tennant and actually I really like The Ninth Gate with Johnny Depp..
I found it on demand for free from my cable provider, thru Turner Classic Movies. They change the selection all the time so I sorta check it daily..
I'll check out The Third Man, haven't seen it. My favorite Welles movie so far is The Trial.
Anime was too good for me to go check it out with Scarlett Johansson performing it. I have no expectations towards a movie on it anyways. It was awesome enough.
Most of the people I know said that it lacked soul. Trailers were cool enough but I have spent too much on films that were really uninspiring. No more superhero movies, anime adaptations and reboots in theatres.
Not sure why anime fans are such bitches when it comes to this movie. If you actually like anime you should be happy for the creators of the series to get more exposure and money. It will only help anime get more exposure and be taken more seriously among Western viewers.

The same reason McCarthy fans (and McCarthy himself) would've been livid if Michael Bay had been helmed to film No Country for Old Men. Great art should be respected and translated by those who can accurately pay homage to it.
That's a terrible analogy. By all accounts teh Ghost in The Shell live action remake is really true to the original, even though people arent loving it. I saw a die hard fan of the anime, someone who has read all the magnas and seen the sequels, gave the movie an A-.
