I wish they hadn't tried to bring back literally everyone, that was a bad idea. They could have still shown us the interaction with Neo and Trinity and how important that is while introducing new characters and new bad guys and a new problem to solve. Neo could have taken the place of Gandalf and be the wizened old mentor for the new blood fighting the rogue machines. It needed to be escalated but it ended up being basically the same as the new Ghostbusters movie and just a nostalgia-driven cash grab. Sad really.

It definitely played the nostalgia card pretty heavy. And I'll say that if you have no interest in the Neo-Trinity love story than this movie probably does nothing for you.

Based on everything I've read about Ghostbusters I want to avoid it. Red letter media had a funny comment about it calling it a "nostalgia bukkake" while showing this clip:

How Green was my Valley (1941)... a truly great John Ford film, u can find it for free on youtube.. underrated in the John Ford catalogue, for sure.. leading actor Walter Pidgeon does an excellent job. its got really nice photography and also a few funny moments

RIP to Peter Bogdanovic, I was always a fan of his film "The Last Picture Show" from 1971.. He wrote a book called movie of the week where he gives commentary on 52 films, many of which i had already seen, a surprising amount of them i didnt see, so I've been going thru those n there's really a lot of gems...

Invasion of the body snatchers (1956) is on that list n it's really good, feel like thats an old black and white movie u could reccomend to ppl who arent into old movies n they'd probably like it.
 
Richard Linklaters "Waking Life" from 2001 is too crazy... I always go back to it every 6 months or so, i think its a 10/10 type of film n it made the cut of Ebert's great films... n it always makes me think.. If anyones stuck in a rut, suck in a cycle of the same old thing, I couldnt think of a more appropriate film to reccomend to them..

I think this movie is just far, far, far more relatable than most ppl would care to admit, n even if its a bit out there, there's plenty of redeeming qualities to it


this film is what made me go thru Phillip K Dick's work with a fine tooth comb, and Linklater did A Scanner Darkley, but that movie, despite having a monstrous cast, is not on the level of waking life..

ya know what movie is just too crazy, but in a sad but true way, is DW Griffith's Birth of a Nation(1915), which was considered to be the greatest american film ever made up until the 1960's..


there are some low lows, and some high highs in that film...
 
The opening scenes of Werner Herzogs -- Aguirre, The Wrath of God(1972) are so amazing you have bunch of people trekking down a mointain but its shot from such a distance that it makes them look almost like ants in an ant farm... love it...


ppl need to be reminded that nature is massive n they are little tiny people in comparison n shots like those are always a great way to do it..

I also saw recently the 7 and a half hour movie Satantango from Hungarian director Bela Tarr, its pretty good imo. not on the level of Werkmeister Harmonies tho, glad i saw it. There's a quality to these films that just arent in most 'story based' things , they are more about humans working thru conditions to conditions rather than your standard 3 acts, both films have haunting photography and really cool soundtracks, n left indelible images on my mind..

The greatest scene in both films is the opening of wekmeister tho, would reccomend anyone that.. with simply just a bunch of men standing around in a bar he truly creates something magical there..



I swear the soundtrack to werkmeister harmonies is highly underrated.. it fits the movie far better than most soundtrakcs youll ever hear..

ive got lots of photography from movies n prints n posters hanging up in my place n this is easily one of my favorites, n people stop and stare at it and everyone always asks about it..

ya know what movie i went back and saw a few times this year n realized ive always been underrating it (personally but also within the wes anderson catalogue)--- The Royal Tenenbaums which is over 20 years old now...

Ive come to realize im from a family sorta just like that... n as much as its supposed to be a ridiculous comedy, where Gene Hackman says something endearing but finishes the statement with something jerkish, ive come to realize i know quite a few ppl like that, n **** ive even been like that, often..

Truly think that is a heck of a movie.. the soundtrack fkin slays too.. of more modern soundtracks u cant find too many better IMO. I still think Rushmore is the best Wes Anderson film but The Royal Tenenbaums has vaulted over all the others to take the 2nd spot.
 
I didnt really like the new Wes Anderson film all that much.. It starts with the shot he ripped from the Jacques Tati movie Mon Uncle, n its super, duper stylish, on my first veiwing im sitting there connecting the shots that hes sorta remixing... it was kinda scattered, and as someone who is able to follow most of the visual references i couldnt help but wonder how does this hit to the average movie goer who isnt peiceing together the source material?

The Algerian Actress Lyna Khoudri does a great job, shes goregeous... Tilda Swinton does a great job, she's hilarious.. Its one of those things, kinda fragmented... or i should say very fragmented..
 
I also think too that there's a pattern in the wes anderson filmography, that the movies with the best narration are the best movies.. n Alec Baldwins narration of the Royal Tenenbaums sets the bar very high..

The narration in the french dispatch is weak, n skittish.. idk.. Ima go back and watch it again maybe ill eat my words..

Why do you abbreviate "n" and literally nothing else?
