It definitely played the nostalgia card pretty heavy. And I'll say that if you have no interest in the Neo-Trinity love story than this movie probably does nothing for you.I wish they hadn't tried to bring back literally everyone, that was a bad idea. They could have still shown us the interaction with Neo and Trinity and how important that is while introducing new characters and new bad guys and a new problem to solve. Neo could have taken the place of Gandalf and be the wizened old mentor for the new blood fighting the rogue machines. It needed to be escalated but it ended up being basically the same as the new Ghostbusters movie and just a nostalgia-driven cash grab. Sad really.
Based on everything I've read about Ghostbusters I want to avoid it. Red letter media had a funny comment about it calling it a "nostalgia bukkake" while showing this clip:
