When Will We Contend?

I believe/hope this is the trajectory of the Jazz
year 1 next year. Improved bench with a couple more young pieces. Push for and contend for the 8th spot. I doubt they get there but it would be nice to have a shot
.
year 2. Improvement of the 2 guys we pick this year and solidly in the playoff picture. Probably a 6-8 range and a team with some depth
.
year 3. Solid playoff team competing for home court in the 1st round and a solid shot at the 2nd round.
.
year 4. A contender, chance at the WCF. This is enough time for the development of our picks this year and to tweak the roster keeping the pieces that worked and filling in the spaces around them.
.
After that I hope for a chance at a championship with further tweaks. But getting that takes a lot of luck and talent and is really hard for a small market team.

I agree

What is discouraging to me is that the Core4 have not lived up to expectations. How much this is due to mishandling is hard to say because Corbin is such a horrible coach. I don't know how a franchise could allow someone like him to continue for so long. I can understand giving him one year after Jerry left but after that it was evident he just did not have what it takes to be a head coach in the NBA, at least not at this juncture. But this has been ridiculous.

Favors has been so inconsistent, as has Hayward. Kanter and Burks have not been used well, and though they finally are getting some opportunities this year, it is not enough. When the Jazz get a decent coach, will these guys play up to their potential, or maybe they just aren't that good and it has nothing to do with Corbin. We really won't know until we get another coach.

Hope you are not serious...

Do you believe any of these teams were contenders? 2011 mavs. 2010 celtics 2009 magic. 2013 pacers. 2003 nets. 2004 pistons? Also spurs are not today a superstar driven team. They play defense and team ball.

Two of those teams that you listed won titles...and both won because the other team was injured. How many of those other teams won titles? So, you are banking on being the team that lucks out and makes it to the final the 8% of the time that LeBron or Shaq's team have injuries.

So, you are hoping for the Deron days?
