Aminu is an important player for them... their defense goes to poop when he is out.

They can get out of LT this year which is important to avoid repeater tax... I know they have money but it hamstrings the team if they give up a first for a guy and don't dump salary.

Napier and Connaughton are likely gone this offseason because they will be too costly.
For all the disconnect that the Jazz roster has going on right now. . . at least we’re not the Blazers and maxed out on a **** roster with little upside.

For a guy that can simply walk in 18 months and is disgruntled to be on THE SPURS?
Yeah, its a little risky but well worth the risk. That could be a championship roster. There is almost no chance that trade happens but if it did... Next year having a core of Mitchell, Kawhi and Gobert. We should go all in on that if we get the chance.

I would be shocked of kwahi got moved but jazz should make multiple attempts at him.

Jazz should make some offers to magic for Gordon. He is a dream fit. They should also go after Fournier if it's reasonable.

Jazz are in a decent position to be really aggressive. We have some things a few teams seem to want and need to leverage that into a great deal. I think draft picks aren't really getting moved much but players will be.

This might be the busiest trade deadline for the jazz and it should be.

Isn't Gordon still a pretty shaky 3 pt shooter .. i know he had a hot streak to start the year but he seems to have cooled off in that regard ?
And he'll be expensive

Yes, he is a little strange but he has improved his shot so much and I think it will continue. Plus how many stretch 4s are ultra athletic, play defense and can put the ball on the floor?

He will get the mini Max but I think that's well worth the risk.

I don't think magic will trade him for anything reasonable we will offer.

I understand your logic, but you are forgetting something. Half of the NBA is in the luxury for 2018-19. So half of the NBA can't even buy. We have two young franchise cornerstones (Mitchell and Gobert) - a 2nd or 3rd tier player might be intrigued by joining. And since many don't have money to spend, we might get a good player for cheaper than when everybody overspends in 2019. So if we have money in 2018 (which we could), we would stand a better chance of buying a player than we would when almost all of the league has money in 2019.

When I think of possible 2018 targets, I'm thinking of guys like:

Avery Bradley
Mirotic (if his option is somehow declined)
Tyreke Evans
Kyle Anderson
Will Barton
JJ Reddick
Patrick McCaw
Ilyasova
Herzonja

And of course we have the opportunity to take a contract if we wanted. If Portland dumps a guy like Harkless and we actually wanted him, we could. This summer will be chaos since so many teams are staring down the luxury tax. Some, like Portland and Washington, will be looking at repeat offender if they don't make a move.

Nope definitely didn't forget. I'd take Hood over most that list.

The Mavs are going to get involved in the Kings and Cavs deal involving George Hill. Why you ask? Because they only have 14 guys on their roster and they have cap space. The Mavs will end up getting handed an asset or two just because they have those luxuries.

Little deals like this are why we try to trade somebody like Burks now. If he's not part of the solution, he's part of the problem. Half of the league is in the luxury next year. Any team with space and a roster spot is going to reap the benefits.

Jazz should buy out Joe Jesus and let him try to get onto a playoff team. He should not have to finish his career on a lotto team. After the Clippers series last year, he’s earned the right from the Jazz to pick his next team.
