The question is and always will be:

Is Favors going to play with Gobert in the playoffs? I think the answer to that question is "very, very rarely". With that being the case, paying Favors $13 million per year to help us in the season but not play in the playoffs is pretty risky if not dumb. Favors is only worth $13 per year if he's a starter OR we expect Gobert to be hurt a lot.

He won't get that much. I only want him if he is a great bargain so it'd have to be MLE type money.

I would be absolutely shocked if Favors doesn't get a $10 million a year contract this summer. Shocked. Atlanta could start him. Phoenix could use him. The Sixers and Lakers could use him. Shoot, the Lakers could start him potentially. Brooklyn might could start him.

Just look at this list of "free agents" for this summer: http://hoopshype.com/2018/01/11/nba-free-agency-2018-centers/. Half of these guys are going to be kept by their current team. He is probably the #1 or #2 available PF/C in free agency. I would take Randle over him, but that's about it.

The Jazz should not trade Hood unless it brings back a player that is part of the long-term plans. As it stands, Hood fits well with the team, and his contract this summer will probably be cheap making him a great asset a few years down the line when the market has corrected (similar to how Crowder is an asset due to his contract).

Maybe a one or two year make good, but I'm telling you bigs won't get paid this offseason.

Hood fits well offensively, but he also plays the same position as the Jazz's best offensive player and doesnt have defensive versatility to play multiple slots.

How much do you really want to pay a 6th man?

And he could be cheap, or he could blow up and really raise his value in the final months.

I agree. It will be a lean summer. I am incredibly intrigued to see what guys like Gordon, Parker and others get in restricted free agency. If they get some massive offer sheet from one of the few teams that have space and the Bucks or Magic don't match, all the other free agents are going to lose so much money. If Gordon and Parker stay, guys like Favors and Hood make millions more.

This is going to be a great summer to go shopping. That's why we have to try like hell to include Burks in any Hood deal. There will probably be some Jonathon Simmons type contracts given out this summer - good players at around MLE cost.

OKC, Det, Chic are the teams most interested per Tony Jones... not really excited on those.

Wonder if Chicago would move Portis... maybe they want out of that entire issue.
